Votto is down for the rest of the season. Thank goodness. Now the Reds can do some experimenting.
Move Farmenr to first and Lopez to third. Put Solano in the DH slot. Place Moustakas on the 60 day DL and have him sit the rest of the year. Drop Strickland and Aquino. Neither one of them knows what they are doing. I know Aquino has a great arm.

Anyone know anything about Carson Spiers on the Lookouts roster. The guy isn't a top 30 prospect, but he has gad a pretty good career so far. He is the best starter for Chattanooga right now. Graham Ashcraft is also going pretty well at Louisville.

I don't see Senzel as really having a future for the Reds anymore. Sheldon has already said that he is headed to a rehab in Louisville before he comes back this year. I look for a long rehab. The Reds have better options. I see Stephenson moving to 1b after Votto. I can see the Reds trading for a catcher prospect maybe like Castillo or Mahle for Alvarez of the Mets.
Anyone know anything about the Cedrola kid? He has done all right in the Reds system, but he is not listed as a prospect Is he a dark horse for playing in the majors.

I may be crazy, but it seems like there are a lot of strange things going on with the Reds
Votto, Senzel and Moustakas all are on the Covid list. I don't know if Senzel will be back with Almora hitting like he is and Dawson and Friel called up. I don't know if the Reds can send Senzel to Louisville or not. Almora is playing well in Center. Senzel is not even mentioned in Sheldon Injury up date.
In Saturday's Game Moustakas really screwed up. He hit a pop-up to the left side which was muffed. It was a high pop-up because They said on the broadcast that it was in the air for over 5 seconds. Yet when it was muffed and kicked toward center Moustakas was barely rounding first. If he had been hustling he would have been almost all the way to second. I don't think anyone was at third because the shift was on. This was important because there were two wild pitches, but Moustakas did not score. On the second Moustakas could have scored, but I don't think he was paying attention. The ball did not get that far away from the catcher either.
Votto is also on the COVID list he is hitting .122. He is striking out in one out of every three at bats. He either walks or strikes out half of the time He never hits the ball. The walks are nice, but Votto is so slow that the pitchers don't care.
Why isn't Lopez playing? The Reds have played 4 games in three days and Lopez hasn't played in any of them. Who knows. Are the COVID claims really just suspensions? Will Senzel be back. Will Lopez ever play again?.
I know I'm crazy>

I thought the Reds looked good, very good. I don't think they missed Miley or Gray at all. Miley is on the IL in Chicago. The offense looked good. India needs to stop swinging for the fences. Senzel needs to hit, but it is still early. The fielding was exceptional except for the second game. in the third third inning. Albies hit a ball that should have ended the inning with a double play. Moustakas took a couple of steps then underhanded it to Farmer whose throw was late to first allowing the Braves to score their 7th run. If the throw had been earlier to second the run would not have scored. It was the difference in the ball game. In the third game the left field play was excellent. Winker could not have made the throws that Fraley and Aquino did. He also could not have gotten to either ball as quick. The Braves would have scored two more runs. castellanos is batting .200, Winker.154, and Suarez.083. The Reds are not missing them.

That was a wild finish yesterday. 10 runs in the eighth inning. Steals of home, wild pitches, balks. A real circus. I think David Bell just said to Jorge Morillo, the Arizona coach. "You take this we are out of here." I wish it had been on MLB.tv, or that there was video. Sounded like it was fun on WSAI. I think the only players on the field in the ninth were from Arizona. I also did not know the Reds had a catcher named O Mama.

I think the bullpen is better. Gray and Miley are done. They were fading fast at the end of last year. The staff is young, but ready. Garcia will be better than Barnhart. Votto will be better with more rest time with Stephenson's help. India will be much better. Farmer will be better this year with constant playing time. There is a lot of minor league compitiion for his back-up Hopefully Moustakas will pull his weight with Suarez gone. He may be better offensively than Suarez I would like to see Senzel finally succeed in center. If he gets hurt again the Reds have a lot of back-up in the minors. Naquin should be a good replacement for Castellanos. Schrock, Moran, Solano, Pham, and Fraley are solid players. The team will be faster also. Fraley had as many steals in Spring training as Winker and Castellanos had all last year. I say 88 wins. Lots of if's We will learn a lot in the next three weeks after the Reds go up against the Braves and Dodgers away. But I won't give up hope though because the schedule the first two weeks is a beast, and the young team could get much better as the season goes on. Finishing the year with six straight games against the Cubs. Hopefully the reds can send them home for the winter as they butcher them to get into the play-offs.

Forget 162 games. The Reds open with 4 games against the WC Braves on the road. then go to LA to face the second best team in the National league in a four game season. They also play 6 against the Padres, and three against the Cardinals. This with their best pitcher and closer on the disabled list. If they are over .500 in April then watch out.

I thought the Reds looked good last night. Mahle's pitch count was up because the umpire couldn't figure out the strike zone. Bell left Godley in too long. There is no way Naquin belongs in the outfield. He turned what should have been an out into a double. Didn't get charged with an error because he didn't touch the ball, but there is no way that it should have gotten over his head. Barrero better get himself back in the lineup. McClain and De La Cruz are pushing hard. I know there are a lot of naysayers, but this team looks pretty good at least for now.

continued Naquin, Fraley (Some speed), and Akeyama. I think Aquino is a bust.
At third base it will be a battle between Lopez, Senzel, and Farmer. Part of that depedns on what Barrerro does.
I think this has the potential of being a good team.

This will sure be an interesting spring training. I really don't think the Reds will miss Gray or Miley. They have a lot of starting pitching. All of them could match Gray or Miley, both of whom I feel are worn out. They both got hit hard last September.
In the outfield there will be a battle for Center among two unknowns, Cerda and Cedrolo. Senzel of course could be in the mix, but the Reds might try to move him back to third. For the other outfield spots the Reds have a loyt to choose from. Shrock, Friedl

That was probably the best they could get for him. He was fading bad at the end of the year. Same with Miley. Plus he spent a lot of time on the disabled list. Agree the trio of Suarez, Votto and MOustaskas is outlandish. 53 percent of the payroll now and next year. Plus Griffey is still making 3 mil a year,

The biggest problem in baseball is not the base size. It is the speed of the game, and the unnecessary interruptions. Here are my ideas. 1. Eliminate the balk rules. If the runner is deceived, too bad. Seeing a pick-off is exciting. See the pitcher throw to Votto only to him throw it back without even looking at the runner is boring, 2. Once a pitcher receives the ball from the catcher he has fifteen seconds to deliver the next pitch. ( that includes pick-off attempts. See rule one.) 3. A pitcher may deliver the next pitch immediately after receiving the ball from the catcher. Batter may not call time out. (Some batters spend more time getting dressed for the next pitch than a woman does putting on make-up.) 4. Zero mound visits. Baseball needs to enter the 21st century. Screw the signs. Have the pitches called from the dugout using technology. A wrist watch type appliance on the pitcher's wrist. Same thing for the batter/ third base coach. Fielders same thing Have a tech umpire to prevent hacking. 5. If a pitcher starts an inning he must finish it. No calling to the bullpen. If a player is hurt and time is called the player must go to the bench and go on the 7 day disabled list. 6. A foul off with two strikes is an out just like a bunt. 7. Instead of putting a man on second in extra innings load the bases. If the visiting teams scores four runs the game is over. 8. Eliminate the infield fly rule.
The game needs to move faster and be more exciting.
I don't care if the fielders shift or not. The batters need to adjust.

The quarterback is important without a doubt, but it is still a team game. The main reason the Bengals won against the Titans was the defense. The main reason they would have lost was the horrible play of the offensive line. 9 sacks. Those weren't Burrow's fault. Chase has also made some unbelievable plays. The kicking game was great also. In the Bengals first Super Bowl against the Niners Ken Anderson did throw some interceptions, but Pete Johnson failed four times in getting into the from the one yard line. In the second match-up the Bengals would have won if a defensive back had made the interception he should have late in the game. I don't know if Palmer was better than Dalton or not. They both had trouble in playoff games. Kenny Anderson might have been better than Bradshaw. But Bradshaw had a running back named Franco Harris. The most comparable position in baseball would probably be the catcher. Johnny Bench changed games. The Reds will miss Tucker Barnhart.

Plus with the 36 million that would free up in salaries if Castellanos walks the Reds could go after Marte seriously
