Long way to go, but Senzel doesn't hit enough for 1st and I would prefer, in a perfect world, the following infield alignment: 2nd - Matt McLain 3rd - Jonathan India SS - Elly De la Cruz

They are saying that Cruz may outgrow SS size wise. THat he is a big kid and going to hit for good power.

I don't see Senzel as really having a future for the Reds anymore. Sheldon has already said that he is headed to a rehab in Louisville before he comes back this year. I look for a long rehab. The Reds have better options. I see Stephenson moving to 1b after Votto. I can see the Reds trading for a catcher prospect maybe like Castillo or Mahle for Alvarez of the Mets.
Anyone know anything about the Cedrola kid? He has done all right in the Reds system, but he is not listed as a prospect Is he a dark horse for playing in the majors.

Yeah, I am just having a hard time giving up on Senzel because I was so excited when we drafted him. He was the guy I really wanted and we got him. He has been extremely disappointing and injury prone. I wonder what kind of career he would have had to this point if he had got to stay at 3B entering the majors after winning a minor league gold glove there. Less chances for injury than the flat out sprints you get from the outfield with long dives, stretches and fence.

I think Stephenson should stay at catcher primarily and move to 1B/DH to keep him in the lineup as needed. There is just a huge advantage to having a strong offensive player at a position that does not typically drive offense. I think Stephenson + a good hitting 1B is much better than a below average hitting catcher + Stephenson at 1B. Also, it feels bad saying this, but given that the Reds are adopting the Rays model, I expect them to flip Stephenson in a few years for prospects, so the Reds are less worried about having him for the long term, and he would fetch more in prospects as a starting catcher.

I'm an alum of Senzel's high school in Tennessee (Knoxville area) - I was also excited about the pick and I thought he would absolutely rake in MLB, and it just hasn't happened. The Reds really needed to be right about that pick and it is becoming increasingly apparently that they weren't. He's already 26 and has a -1.2 WAR for his career and he can't stay healthy. He's not part of the future.

Anyone know anything about Carson Spiers on the Lookouts roster. The guy isn't a top 30 prospect, but he has gad a pretty good career so far. He is the best starter for Chattanooga right now. Graham Ashcraft is also going pretty well at Louisville.

Found this on Reds Minor Leagues: www.redsminorleagues.com/2022/02/04/cincinnati-reds-top-prospects-carson-spiers/would be cool to see this guy pan out as good major league pitcher.

C Tyler Stephenson 1B Nick Senzel (to cut down on his injury risks) 2B Johnathan India SS Matt McLain 3B Elly De La Cruz LF Rece Hinds CF Mike Siani RF Austin Hendrick SP Hunter Greene SP Nick Lodolo SP Brandon Williamson SP Chase Petty SP Andrew Abbott Anyone else's insight as to how they see it? With two concussions this year, perhaps it is Stephenson that needs to be moved to first.

RHP Joe Boyle RHP Graham Ashcroft Personally I have both over Williamson and Petty, but I could be wrong. Tyler Calihan Yerlin Confidan Jay Allen Personally I have all over all 3 over your outfielders. I don’t expect much from Hendrick. I don’t expect him to ever be a big league player or at least a starter. I hope I’m way wrong about him and he proves me wrong. Senzel will never contribute consistently. Which is a shame because he is very talented but his body is just not going to cooperate. Injuries have already eroded some of his talent, age will erode the rest and sadly I believe that will be the story of him. We will look back on what could have been.
