Impressive win. Ramos made a great throw to the plate to preserve the shutout and shut down any comeback. I think me and everybody thought the run would score. The3 throw was right on the money though and it came it fast. Great play. Ramos did get a standing ovation for the play and he deserved it.

Anyone who is called up will take the place of someone else. The Reds should kick Nueman loose. He really is not helping the team. Fraley has had some big hits, but he needs to go also. The Reds need to can the three catcher experiment All it is doing is messing with Stephenson's mind. Besides id the Reds need a third catcher it should be Robinson who is doing very well at Louisville. Ultimately The Reds could try to move Senzel to make room for De la Cruz. I don't think they would do that, but the Reds could really use another starter, and help in the pen. Signing Myers for two years was not real smart. I would like to see the Reds dump him and then see what TJ Hopkins can do at the MLB level. David bell should be fired at the end of this year. He cannot manage a bull pen.

This deal is just plain stupid. The guy hasn't done anything yet and the Reds are blowing away the next six years just like they did with Votto and Bailey. Get used to the cellar, Reds fans The Reds will be spending years in it.
The Reds active payroll is 34 million There is 30 million on the disabled list thanks mostly to Votto. Moustakas is costing the Reds 22 million. I think he plays for the Rockies now Griffey is making 3 million+.
So the Reds are paying 55 million to people who are not even on the club. Not real smart.
The Reds looked horrible today. Brought up a pitcher from Louisville and he immediately fell behind 6-0. I don't know why everyone thinks the Reds have such a great farm system. The Bats are horrible. The Lookouts have abetter record thanks to Abbott and some guy named Boyle or something like it.
I can see why the Reds want to put Barrerro in the outfield. He is not that great of a shortstop.

There has been a lot of talk about what a great player Elly De La Cruz will be. I have to question that because he may be too tall. Outside of pitchers there have been no great hitters above 6 foot three in baseball history. Yeas Adam Dunn and Dave Kingman hit a lot of Home Runs, but theey were not great hitters They struck out a lot. I don't think there are any Hall of Fame hitters over 6 feet two inches tall. I can't find any stats to back up this up so I don't know. Any thoughts.

I think they can. The acquisition of Larson might be the most significant of the off-season. He looks like he might have both power and speed. I don't know much about him though. I see an outfield of Friel, Fairchild and Larson. I don't see Fraley or Myers as really having much impact.
I would like to see the Reds try Senzel at first and leave Votto in the DH spot. If Senzel is the infielder that many say he is then first base should not be that hard for him. India will be at second, and hopefully he will not get hurt. Shortstop and third are complete unknowns at his point. I do not think Barrerro is the answer to anything. He can't hit. The top three in the rotation are great, but someone will need to step up for the other two slots. The bullpen has to get better if the Reds are to be competive.
If the Reds are not competitive Bell will be fired. If they lose ninety games Bell will be gone and I believe Larkin will take his place.
The new rules will affect Votto the most. He doesn't like to stay in the box.

Well the rush to the disabled list has already started. Antone has an additional sore arm problem. Out for at least 60 more days. Pretty much the new nowm for the Reds. Sign a contract, go on the disable list. Joey Votto won't be ready for spring training. guess he will be on the DL when camp opens. Who is next?

Who was the better third baseman. Their stats are really quite similar. Bell had more singles and triples. Rolen more doubles and home runs. Rolen struck out about twice as much as Bell, but grounded into far fewer double plays. Bell blew Rolen away in sacrifices. Rolen played on better teams. Bell never saw the post season. Rolen may have an edge, but it is mighty small.

I do not believe Senzel should have displaced Suarez at third after Suarez had established himself as a prospective Mike Schmidt type of hitter. Unfortunately his bat became fickle. India was a third baseman also and he switched to second because of Suarez.
I believe that the Reds should give Senzel a look at first base. Votto best option for this year is as the designated hitter. His field time should be minimal. it will keep him healthy. First base might keep Senzel healthy also, and if he really is a good fielder first base should not be a problem. I know I have said first base will be the eventual landing spot for Stephenson, until the Reds get another good catcher Stephenson is behind the dish.

That is a very interesting question which is almost impossible to answer. Every position is up for grabs. Joey Votto will probably be the DH whenever he gets back. The starting rotation will be Greene, Lodolo, Ashcraft, and Overton. The fifth starter is anyone's guess. The closer is Diaz. Stephenson may catch or play first. It is just confusing. I thought the Reds would be interested in Bauer, but it looks as though Bauer may be a bad guy for the clubhouse. He is very vain. I think Fairchild can have a breakout year. I think India may continue to worsen. Cruz and Cessa are in the mix for either a starter slot, or the pen. Antone is back so that should help in the pen. Sims is an unkonwn at this point. Alejo Lopez will probably make the team because he can hit from both sides of the plate. I do not know if he can get a starting gig though

Trevor Bauer has not been found guilty. In fact, the judge threw the case out. The girl also had a tainted reputation a a baseball groupie also. The Reds took a chance on Josh Hamilton and it ended up okay. BTW, Hamilton got in trouble again in Los Angeles. "Hollywood nights in those Hollywood hills." Little Bob Seger there. Time to "Turn The Page". The Reds have also been more than willing to bring back Rose from time to time even though he is a convicted criminal. So did the Phillies although now he has been accused of knocking up a teenager 50 years ago. I don't have a problem with it. It would boost attendance in the games he appears in which is something the Reds really need to do.

The reds could also flip Moustakeas for him. The money is about the same and the Dodgers need a left-handed hitter. The Dodgers will have to pay Bauer 23 million rather he plays or not. tThe Reds owe Moustakas 22 million.

Baseball has reinstated him from the suspension list. The Dodgers have until Friday to either put him on their 40 man roster or release him. They have to pay him either way. Should the Reds pursue him. IHe had his best years in Cincinnati. He is a pitching genius who would probably make a great 4th starter. I wouldn't mind giving the Dodgers Barrero, or Senzel for him. The Dodgers lost Justin Turner, and Trea Turner to free agency and their centerfield position is weak. What does everyone have to say? I think the Reds should make a run at him.

Don't underestimate Fairchild. I think he is going to have a big breakout year. He did have the highest OPS, SLG, and OBP on the team last year. He does strike out to much, but maybe he can correct that.

That would be a dumb trade. Diaz is part of the future. Fairchild will be the starting centerfielder. He isn't that bad. He had the highest OPS on the club last year and he has made only one error in his entire career. Fraley will be in left. Right field, who knows. India will be at third. At short, who knows. Lopez will be at second and Votto at first Stepheson will be behind the plate, Back-up, who knows. DH Moustakeas until he trips over his own feet.

This is another indication that Bell's days are numbered as the Reds Manager. The Reds already fired the coaches. These are people that Bell picked. Farmer is only in Cincinnati because Bell brought him with him from the Dodgers. Bell was Farmer's biggest advocate. I read someplace that Phil Castellini was interviewing the prospective coaches. It is Bell's job to hire the coaches he wants to work with. Castellini is looking for a new manager although Bell will probably make it through the year because Castellini does not want to pay a salary for nothing.
bell has been a disaster. His clubs are never ready after spring training. Just look at the Reds record for April the past few years. The club also gives up in September. Look at the Reds record the past two years in September. This past year the player's main goal going into September was getting on the DL.
Just one more year and the Reds. can dump Votto's salary. That was Jocketty's blunder. He got fired from St. Louis for advocating a the same type of salary for Pujols. The contract with the Angels was a disaster. And the same for Votto. I really wish the Reds had not fired Kivinski.
Then there was Candlestick's blunder with the Moustakas signing. It is probably good that Phil Castellini is trying to clean up the mess these incompetents left behind.
Just look what Farmer got the Reds. A minor league pitcher who probably will never make it to the majors. Perhaps I am wrong there. Watch him be Bell's opening day starter.
The Reds need to fire some minor league managers also. I believe the Reds farm teams all were below .500 last uears. Many of them were racing to the bottom of the standings. I wonder if Bell hired them.
