Depending on how the Reds do I can possibly see Dusty retiring. Jockety has said he would be welcomed back, but Dusty was uncharacteristically quiet on his plans. I thought it was strange anyway.

I think Perez may be an option in center if he continues to improve. He has played about one third of his minor league games in center and he has NEVER made an error. 83 games. We know he has an arm because he plays right in Louisville. I would like to see what Perez has in September if the Reds put him on the roster and call him up.

Bruce replaced Griffey in Center when he came uaizer has so it is not a stretch for him to play there. Fraizer has played third so right should not be too hard.

he is one of the best DEFENSIVE Centerfielders in the game.
It is amazing how people will just make things up and declare them to be true.
Stubbs is one of the worst centerfielders in the game.
Proof For all centerfielders who have played 0ver 100 games Stubbs is either last or next to last range facter (so much for speed), fielding percentage, and assists. (so much for his arm. ) Both Phipps and Perez have better arms in Louisville. Paul probably does also.
Both heisey and Stubbs need to go, but getting anyone of value will be difficult.

I reaond Dusty' comments at how he felt so bad for Stubbs because he tried so hard. I could not understand that. Stubbs has a big time job with a big salary and next year he will probably threaten arbitration for a bigger salary. Yet he does not do his job. He is the worst starting centerfielder in major league baseball. There are a lot of minor leaguers who would love a shot at the job in center. Felix Perez for one. Where is the sympathy for him Dusty

GettinG back to the original topic
I believe the biggest comparison to Dunn would be Harmon Killibrew. Killibrew didn't get in on a first ballot. He was many things that Dunn wasn't. A MVP. He made annual appearances to the all star game. He was the leader of a team that won four pennants.
Dunn doesn't have a chance.

Stubbs looks like a guy that does baseball because he is good at it and not because he loves it. He only performs well when factors other than winning get him to focus. I don't think he'll be a Red next year personally. I agree with you. I can't see the Reds going through arbitration with him. This may be dumb, but I also think his little hot streak was because he was playing two of the worst clubs in the majors right now, not to mention they were also the two clubs nearest his home town. This is another reason I'd try to get a look at Perez in September. The guy will be 28. He won't be into arbitration or out of options until his thirties.

I know he is not on the 40 man roster, but the other Cuban Felix Perez has really been hot. He also is a lefty with reasonable speed. I was high on Rodriguez, but he has tanked. I'd maybe look to Gregorius
The Reds could think about dropping Negron, Soto or Valaika from the 40 man roster. I don't see any of them being in the Reds future anymore.
The only pitcher deserving of a call-up is Hoover.

He could do, but he cannot lose again. He has 11 starts left. He isn't scheduled to face any contending clubs until the end of the year. Here are his starts as I see them. Brewer Cubs Cubs Phillies DBacks Phillies Astros Marlins Dodgers Brewers Cardinals
That could change depending on how Dusty works the staff especially at the end.

The all star game is not a good indicator. Case in point. The guy who started the 1965 game for the American League became one of the most famous pitchers in the Reds and Major League baseball history. He never won a CY.

I disagree completely about Rodriguez. He should be here right now in place of Cairo Incidently, the other player from his home town that was signed the same year and is the same age weighs only 150 lbs. and was on the all star team.

I can not believe the Reds haven't placed Votto on the DL yet and called someone up. The Bats are in Columbus so it isn't like it is that difficult to get the guy to Cincinnati.

It absolutely makes sense to burn an option year. Once Hamilton comes up at the beginning of the season he will stay unless he absolutely stinks.
His speed is a unique talent that gives him the abilty to win a game.
There will be some places when you can use himjust as a pinch runer, especially with Rodriguez and Gregorius coming up. He can pinch run for the following guys with no drop-off with Rodriguezm and Gregorius availible.
Pinch runner for all pitchers Rolen, Ludwick, Cairo, if the Reds add a catcher to the squad which they should in September to give Hannigan Merasco a break.
He also could learn a lot from Hatcher
