The Reds don't need to trade rodriguez for some deadbeat outfielder from another organization. The have enough of their own products in the pipeline.
They might consider Lutze for left field also. He played alsmost half his games in left field for Pensacola. Made one error and had two assists. Has a poor range factor.

If the job is offered to him I don't see why he wouldn't take it. Pay increase, promotion, a chance to run his own team. I can't see those as dis-incentives.
The Marlins aren't exactly asking big names either.
The marlins offer someone a chance to turn a struggling franchise around and make a name for themselves. Saying price wouldn't go if offered the job is just plain stupid.

Like a lot about what you said especially with the pitchers
However you still have not addressed what will be a problem for the Reds next year, mainly, what are you going to do with all the minor league outfielders.
Pensacola has 3 outfielders deserving of promotion Josh Felhauer .314 .829 OPS Bryson Smith .307 .758 OPS Josh Hamilton .286 .789 OPS
Going to Louisville they run into Felix Perez .749 OPS excellent fielder Denis Phipps Probably has the best outfield arm in the organization. Avergae down this year. I think the Reds tried to make him into a power hitter due to his size. He is rule 5 eligible
Do you plan on realeasing either or both to keep Stubbs and Heisey, or giving them a shot on the big team. I don't think you would lose that much in keeping them to save money and kicking Heisey and Stubbs to the curb.

If anyone is paying attention
Perez is batting .269 in Venezuela 3 RBI's That is strange. Wonder if he is trying to get back to Cuba?
Phipps is batting .286 at home in the Dominican 4 runs scored.
Rodriguez isn't anywhere yet. He just vanished.

I wouldn't do it. Like others just said, he had a good second half.
Meanwhile there is a trainwreck building in the minors. The Reds need to figure out what to do with Perez and Phipps. Perez has never made an error playing centefield in the minors and he finished at Louisville this year hitting .301. I have heard that Phipps has the best arm on the team including Bruce. He only hit .221, but I have a feeling the Reds tried to make a home run hitter out of him. He is also 6'3" so he has great reach that may make up for speed on defense.Everyone talks about Hamilton at Pensacola, but few mention Bryson smith and Josh Felhauer. Both had just 1 error this past year and both hit over .300. Save some money, the Reds will need it.
Bailey was easily the best pitcher in baseball during September and October. He needs to get a big contract. Latos was also superb most of the season. He needs to be take care of. Bruce, Votto and Phillips will all be getting big raises.
there is no way I would go to arbitration with Stubbs. Right now he is only worth the MLB minimum. Ditto Heisey who is also set for arbitration. Then there is Paul who looks like a keeper.

Looking at the forty man roster i'd say dumop Broxton and Bray Broxton blew a couple of games late He is overweight and not that good. Lecure, Masssett, Arrendondo, Villareal, and redmond are expendable. Bring Cingani up keep a close eye on Lotzkar and Corcino
Dump Cairo, Let Rolen retire. Keep Fraizer at third. Bring up Rodriguez and Gregorius Soto and Lutz are only minor leaguers and are expendable
Dump Stubbs. He is worthless as trade bait. No one wants a .200 hitting arbitration eligble outfielder. Try and keep mLudwick. Heisey is expendable. See what Phipps, Perez and Hamilton can do. Not saying bring them up, but the Reds don't need a high priced outfielder.
Dump Bell and coaches at Louisville. They took a good program and trashed it. Take a hard look at Penscala . One thing the minors leaguers are not learning to do is win.

I'm torn. I think the Reds would beat every club in a series except the Nationals. They could beat them, but the offense has to come back.
If they get to the WS, it is a slam dunk. The AL teams are just trash. Including the Y

Marybe Joe torre was such a great manager because he plyed with Henry Aaron. Sparky Anderson, Walt Alston and Tommy , not so great.
I admire the poaition. I know it is a hard job for nine months of the year. But a platoon Sgy in the Army has basically the same job if not harder. So this junk about some being better than others is a lot of bunk. There have been a lot of good coaches who didn't win.

The. Went re is no way would hire David Bell. H has nver had inning season in his career in the minors. Look how Louisville cratered this year after he replaed Sweet. From te playoffs t te cellar in on year.
I do think Dusty will retire if th Redswin the WS. He i gettng old. He ha nothing else to prove. Working 24/7 athisge is a real grind. He doesnt eally get any days off.

I think it isw something they should let teams decide for themselves. Who cares if a team has 17 pitchers, Let them play if management wants them to.

I can't understand why Felix Perez is so low Here is a 27 year old. By the times he is out of options he will be 30. By the time he would reach arbitration or free agency he would be well into his thirties. I don't understand why he is not up now. He is a decent hitter and fielder. he was the only AAA player to bat .300 this year and in 90 games in center field in the minors he has never made an error.

Oh and the city or county owns Great American Ball Park. If they want to hang the number and name MLB can't really say anything . They are a tennant. If they want Rose to be there for a city ceremony, same thing.

They could retire the number at a Bengal or Bearcat game with all three of them wherever the game was played . Mike Brown may not go along with it at Paul Brown Stadium. UC might not go along.
I have also been surprised UC didn't offer Pete a job as a coach. They could increase attendance just by him being there
