I can not believe the Reds haven't placed Votto on the DL yet and called someone up. The Bats are in Columbus so it isn't like it is that difficult to get the guy to Cincinnati.

They're going to wait 3 and 1/2 weeks, before putting him on the DL. 23 man roster is the new 25 man roster

It looks like they're calling up Redmond for tonight as Cueto insurance (if his blister becomes a problem). Simon is unavailable after throwing three innings last night.
I'm hoping tomorrow though they call up Henry Rodriguez. I don't think he's anything special, but he's a switch hitter who hits for average. That's something this team desperately lacks, and I greatly prefer him as a utility guy over Cairo. In fact, I'd like to see Rodriguez spelling Rolen while Votto is out instead of Cairo.
I don't expect them to bring him up though. Hello Willie Harris.

I can not believe the Reds haven't placed Votto on the DL yet and called someone up. The Bats are in Columbus so it isn't like it is that difficult to get the guy to Cincinnati. Joey Votto today underwent successful arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn medial meniscus in his left knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. Timothy Kremchek.
Votto is expected to miss 3-4 weeks and has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to yesterday.
His roster spot will be filed by RHP Todd Redmond (#58), who has been recalled from Class AAA Louisville. Redmond was acquired from the Braves on Saturday in exchange for IF Paul Janish. He will be in uniform tonight.[a href=" cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/2012/07/17/reds-announce-redmond-move/"] cincinnati.com/blogs/reds/2012/07/17/reds-announce-redmond-move/[/a]
