I was wondering if Paul Bako is starting to grow on anybody else ? From what I have seen his defense isn't as bad as advertised and hes putting the ball in play. I would absolutely HATE to carry 3 catchers again, but if hes one of our two I'm perfectly fine with that.

Stop F*ing bunting with two outs! Especially with a runner in scoring position....
Strangle these guys Dusty!

arroyo finallys gets the 1-2-3 inning going through the 8-9-1 batters. Say what you want about Castro but the guy can still field. I for one am giving the guy a chance this season as he was hurt last year and I've never had a problem with Castro. He can come up with a big hit from time to time and his fielding in late inning situations can more than make up his lack of average. He is nothing more than a late game defensive substitution. And as much as this team gives up homers, his defense does not warrant a position on the team IMO.

Bako is doing well right now. He's not an answer at C, though.

Bako is doing well right now. He's not an answer at C, though. For the future ? no. For this season? It could be a great story, finally gets a chance to play for the team he loves and that drafted him and finds a little extra to put together a nice season. I tried to give David Ross some credit but to hit under .200 for almost the entire season last year REALLY hurt us. If he doesnt absolutely tear it up in the minors and i mean hit like .600 then he is no more deserving of the spot than Bako

whew crafty inning Arroyo. I give the guy credit, he's certainly struggling today but getting out of that inning was nice getting howard to chase the high fastball and simply fooling burrell. Also buy phillips a beer for the great play saving a base runner

With the bottom of the phillies order coming up I think Arroyo can go antoher inning and we can bring in a reliever for the 7th. This is where we need a guy like Roenicke in the pen, to hurl in some 96-98 mph heat after a soft tosser like Arroyo.

agreed. wasn't Coffee dealing in that range a couple seasons ago ? or is my mind shot? Since the first inning the reds offense hasn't been able to get anything going, getting frustrating but Hamels will do that to a team

Well, you likely knew it'd be one of those two from Dunn.

Hamels at around 90 pitches now, hopefully they decide that is enough for today and we can get to their pen for 3 innings and not just two. Bring in a righty so we can sub Votto for Castro and move Kepp back to SS, and Sub Griffey for Freel, and move Hopper to center.
