27 outs in a regulation baseball game. We don't put the ball in play for 50% of those. Tough ask to win in those circumstances.

"The Reds avoided a sweep and beat the Brewers for just the 12th time in their last 47 meetings. The Brewers won two of three from the Reds this weekend for their ninth straight series victory against them."
12 - 35 in the last 47 meetings. Heavens!

wasn't there a game in the early 2000s where the Reds blew something like a nine run lead to the Brewers in the last 3 innings or something? And they've basically owned us ever since?

Obviously, the Brewers have been doing things a bit better than we have as of late. Case in point, to tie this factoid together with the elsewhere discussed Elly extension, it feels noteworthy that: The Brewers locked up Chourio before he ever took an MLB AB. A year-and-a-half into his career and the Reds are still sitting on their hands with respect to Elly. Again, it makes no sense, but maybe it speaks to why the Brewers are the Brewers and we're still just the Reds.

It's not really a fair comparison because we are a small market team and the Brewers are in Milwaukee.
Wait, what?

Angels released Amir Garrett. He was always a popular clubhouse guy, do we need another lefty?

Sweep of the Cards is nice. Always good to beat the Cards.

Angels released Amir Garrett. He was always a popular clubhouse guy, do we need another lefty? man, what a disappointment that guy's career turned out to be. Really? I think he's had a pretty good big league career in the grand scheme of things. This is his 8th big league season. He's had elite strikeout rates, but control problems for most of his career. He's definitely a competitor. Frankly, given his clear preference for basketball and how unwilling he was to give it up and choose baseball, I think he's done fairly well for himself. Or, maybe that's why I had lower expectations for him. I understand that not everyone who has the ability to play baseball at the highest level loves (or even likes) the game, but I'd bet on those who have a real passion for the game over those who do not. Amir has made it work for a long time at big league level.

His career ERA is just under 5. But you make a good point: I had totally forgotten that he played basketball, too.

Embarrassing. Outscored 28 - 3, swept by the Royals at home. Wait a minute, aren't they a small market team?
