Seattle has Taylor Trammell (remember him, Reds fans?), Kyle Lewis, and Mitch Haniger slotted into their starting outfield. And, top prospect Jared Kelenic is knocking on the door with other top prospect Julio Rodriguez right on his heels. Long story short: the Mariners don't need outfielders. Lewis may be going on the disabled list to open the season. Trasmell has never played in the majors nor have Kelenic and Rodriguez. Their manager Servais has already said the team is not ruling out external options. Go to the Seattle website and read it yourself.

This team is bad, very bad. Probably worse than the Pirates. Spring Training was a complete circus. Joey Votto now needs more time to get ready for the season. I know he had the Covid scare, but I've always heard that players come to Spring training prepared and don't really need all that much time to get ready.
I am not all that high on Johnson either. I have never seen a pitching staff managed like this one. Mahle, the number two starter has made just two starts and has only pitched 5 innings. The number of sore arms is staggering Antonne, Lorenzen, Gray. Miley, Hoffman and Deleon are horrible. The Reds have beenusing six and seven pitching per game and camp is almost over.
Some posters have said that Winkler will be starting. Theyt may be right, but he is a joke. Both Payton and Naquin had better springs. I know that Seatle is looking for an outfielder/ Designated hitter, and that they may have anadditional starting pitcher availible. I am hoping that Winker is on the plane to Seattle after today's game. Moustakas has had a horrible spring while Shrock has really done well, but some believe that Moustaksa should get the nod at third because of the pay.
If the Reds are going to do anything they need to fire Williams. There is no way I would want him to hire the next manager. I remember when Jockety talked the big guy into firing Kivinksky. The ball club has been going downhill ever since.
I do hope Senzel does well in center. I have been hard on him in the past, but maybe this nis the year he will prove me wrong. I am also glad India is getting a chance. I also hope Stephenson does well, but he is going to have real problems throwing out base-stealers seeing that the pitcher's can't hold anybody on. Joey Votto won't help any in this regard since he never even looks at the baserunner on a pick-off attempt.

Moustakas has done almost nothing for the Reds since they signed him to that big money contract. He is not very good. I guess you think that Shrock is garbage which he probably is also as is Farmer. The whole team is bad. Look at their spring training record.

Yeah and he played all of six games in the outfield. He was a DH. Payton is a better player and fielder at this time. So is Naquin. So are Aquino and Shogo.

I really think Strange-Gordon will start at short after all is said and done. Moustakas will be a bench player,. The Reds need the speed. This is how I see it shaking out
C- Barnhart C- Stephenson
1B Votto 2b India ss Strange Gordon 3b Suarez
Infield Shrock Moustakas
RF Castellanos CF Senzel LF Payton
Outfield Aquino Naquin
When Akiyama gets back he will probably replace Payton. I don't think Winker will make the club. Neither will farmer although he might since he is the third catcher and backup shortstop.
Pitching- I have no idea. It is going to be very bad after Castillo and Garrett. Sonny gray is mediocre at best. His best days are behind him just like Lorenzon. The Reds need to try and trade for a decent starting pitcher.

I don't think Winker is even going to make the team. Payton is a better option as is Naquin.

The reds looked bad again today. Votto was all right 2-3 Suarez 1-2 Heineman did well again. 1-2 with a stolen base. This guy may not make the club, but he is showing that he belongs. Barnhart was awful 4 SB's Outside of Perez the pitching was horrible also. I don't know what Bell is doing. He seems to want to run every pitcher in the organization out there except for the ones that will make the club.
Holder does not belong on a major league roster. Ditto Oish, or Doolitttle. I think the reds needs to trade Lorenzon. I don't see him improving.

The Reds looked good last night
Heineman looked good again last night. 1-2 with 2 SB. Guess this guy did not get the memo that he is not competing for a job. He was in left last night. (Does Senzel have options left?) Stephenson Schrock and Guillon looked good also although Stephenson allowed a stolen base.
Perez Looked good on the mound. Osich really stuck Warren looked all right. It will be interesting to see how the Reds handle him since he is a Bearcat.

The Texas thing is"good news"? Why would this not be good news? Do you want to see empty stadiums and short seasons? Do you want people to enjoy themselves? I guess you just want everyone to live a life of seclusion and fear.

I saw the game last night and I was impressed with he pitching. I Thought the strike zone was small. I did not see Greene pitch, but it looks like he had a rough time of it. Perez looked great for two batters, then really struggled to get the third out.
The catching was great Lagares had a steal, but the play could have been contested.
Heineman looked great again. I think this guy can hit. He has only played a first to spell Votto. He has spent his whole career in the outfield. He has even played in center field. He did get thrown out at home, but he had to go because it was a force at the plate. He made it closer than what I thought it would be. He might have been safe. That probably could have been challenged. Suarez painted the 3rd base line with a double. Brooks Robinson may have been able to throw him out, but he wasn't there. Farmer looked good. Things at short may not be as bad as some think.
The team is slow The team has serious hitting problems. Too many k's. Of course the Angels pitching is horrific. Then pitching is suspect at this point.

Texas is open. Mask mandate is gone. Businesses can do as they see fir.
Other good news I heard but may not be true. Not one person has died of heart disease this year in the United States. Flu numbers are also way down.

The Reds have been outright horrible Reds pitchers have pitched 14 innings. They have allowed 18 runs on 23 hits Reds Hitters have batted in 15 innings. They have scored 5 runs on 10 hits. They did get three runs in the last inning to day.
Four of the hits came from guys who were not even invited to camp. I am glad they showed up.
This Scott Heineman may be a steal. I looked up his stats with the Rangers. The guy looks like he can hit. He is an outfielder. But he has never made an error his in his entire career. Farmer did okay at short and Votto hit. A Rod hit a home run. Aquino got a triple. Finnegan pitched two shutout innings.
Does David Bell know what he is doing? Does the front office?

David Bell was right when he said that Suarez already plays the position when a left hand batter is at the plate.
I really don't think the Reds have too much of a problem with the position if the Reds play up to par Davey Concepsion wasn't a very good hitter when he came up. Cozart was never a good hitter in the minors. Carfdenas and McMillan weren't all that great offensively either. I really think that Garcia will do all right. The Reds also have a lot of options: Farmer, Bandino, Strange Gordon, and the plethora of rule 5 and waiver guys. . One thing I have found interesting is that ARod is not in camp this year like he was last year. Has he reached his ceiling and is now headed down?

I think beefy is too kind. He looked like the Pillsbury dough boy last year.
