What is wrong with Selsky? I noticed he left the game a couple of nights ago and has not returned.

Eugenio Suarez has been hitting in his last 10 games... 9/30 (.300) with 7 BBs and 5 Ks. For the season he's still hitting a disappointing 21/91 (.231), but hopefully his recent success is a sign that he's heating up after a rough start. It'd be nice to see him earn a spot on the Reds later this season.

Travieso managed to go only 2/3rds of an inning tonight?
Should I presume TJS required?
Anyone hear anything yet?

With the Reds season completely in the shithole I am really looking forward to the start of Billings season. The Mustangs will be my nightly entertainment from here through September

Travieso managed to go only 2/3rds of an inning tonight? Should I presume TJS required? Anyone hear anything yet? Per Doug Gray: "Nick Travieso was hit by a line drive in the 1st inning and had to leave he game. The ball hit him somewhere below the chest, and while he didn’t take any warm up throws to try and stay in the game, he did walk off the field on his own."

So...as of now - we have to presume he's still breathing, aside from that it's wait and see...I hope the medical team catches the obvious internal bleeding and prevents his eventual death by diarrhea.

Hang nails are dangerous and fatal when left untreated.

Travieso and Moscot suffered freak injuries within an hour of each other. Fortunately it sounds like Travieso's injury shouldn't keep him out long.

After a horrendous April and May, Gavin LaValley is hitting .463/.517/.685/1.202 in June. He looked lost when I saw him in early May, unfortunately he wasn't playing when I saw the Dragons last week. I'll be interested to get another look at him live again soon.

In his first 3 games as a pro, Red 2015 first round pick Tyler Stephenson is 5 for 8, 2 2B, 4 BB, 1 K as an 18 year old in the advanced rookie league where the average age is just over 21 years old. A nice start, that's for sure.

Kyle Waldrop was promoted to Louisville after Steve Selsky went on the DL with a knee injury... an injury Selsky apparently sustained almost a week earlier running the bases. I'm looking forward to seeing how Waldrop does in AAA. As a near-certain September call-up I hope Waldrop does well in Louisville.

Gavin LaValley's hot hitting has continued, and it's starting to improve my (low) impression of him, after a mediocre performance in rookie ball in 2014, and a fairly ugly April and May 2015. He's had a pretty spectacular June, as a 20 year old in A ball. I was getting skeptical that he'd ever learn to do anything other than strike out, but he's starting to show some hitting ability.
Robert Stephenson had a so-so start yesterday. Not spectacular (like I hope to see every time he pitches), but far from bad. 6 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 3 K. He finishes June with a 2.53 ERA. And I guess he's sticking in AA, rather than going to Louisville.
Jesse Winker has hit .325 with a .415 OBP in June.
Yorman Rodriguez also had a strong June, hitting .347 with a .402 OBP. He walked 9 times, after walking 3 and 4 times in the first couple of months. Last year YoRod had a big month in August in AA, but arguably this has been YoRod's best month in the past couple of years. Hopefully it's a sign that he's made adjustments to AAA pitching and can keep it up... and eventually deserve another promotion to the Reds later this season. At which point he'll hopefully be able to play everyday and see what happens.

My stat of the day: #Reds Yorman Rodriguez has just 38 PA against a P younger than him in 2,512 career minor-league PA. That’s 1.5%
----------------------- Part of starting to play professional games at age 16, against high school graduates and people drafted out of college.

I wish the Reds would promote 24 year old Seth Mejias-Brean to AAA Louisville and see what happens. With guys like Chris Dominguez playing 3b in AAA, why not? Then if he does well look into making him a September call-up.
This year he's played 64 games for Pensacola and hit .258 with only 3 homeruns... not great... but in 240 plate appearances he has 38 BB and 45 Ks, and a very impressive .383 OBP. As a hard working OBP machine he seems to deserve a callup, even if he hasn't matched his .300+ averages from Billings, Dayton, and Bakersfield.
Similarly I'd like to see Jesse Winker, with his .372 OBP, promoted to Louisville, despite his low homerun totals. He had an excellent June and is off to a good start in July. Winker seems to have figured out AA pitching, even if it took him a couple of months. Before long I expect his average to return to the .300 range if they keep him in AA.
