So far in terms of announced roster moves recently the Louisville Bats: -Placed Jermaine Curtis on the DL -Optioned Dilson Herrera -Promoted CF Beau Amaral from AA - presumably their new CF. -Placed Steve Selsky on the DL
The Bats started playing today's afternoon game with Scott Schebler and Tony Renda on their official roster but not in the lineup. Same with Dilson Herrera and Beau Amaral.

Maybe one of those glut of pitchers that the Reds drafted late that may have a shot at being a decent starter when they decide he's ready to move to a rotation spot. Looks like a pretty good find for a fifth rounder. We'll see how fast he develops. Maybe he might deserve discussion in our top 30 prospects lists.

He's got some gas. 93-95 when he controlled it, hit 97 once with some chin music. I didn't see a changeup at all, something he'd need if they want to try him as a starter. He could be fast tracked as a reliever though. Nick Senzel is the truth. Roped a double 375 feet tonight, it would have been a home run with just another couple degrees of elevation. Worked counts, drew two walks, made two very nice defense plays (botched one mildly hard one though), super accurate throwing arm.

Senzel started 3 years at a powerhouse SEC school, he had better be hitting A ball pitchers.
Can we please, for the love of all that is holy, let him develop like a normal prospect.

I think they'll move him up to Daytona before the high A playoffs to bolster that team, and start him next year in AA. Not to rush him, but because he's ready to face more advanced pitching. Unless we're somehow competitive next year (certianly not counting on it, but stranger things have happened) he won't debut in the bigs before a few weeks into 2018 to get that extra year of service time. Out of curiosity, I looked up Corey Ray, who the Brewers started out in High A, and through 125 plate appearances, he's only hitting .222/.262/.274. I thought that was a very aggressive assignment to start out, and hasn't responded as of yet. On a side note, Jose Duarte is a terrible terrible catcher. Either that, or I saw him on the worst night of his career. I unfortunately didn't get to see Okey catch. I'm seeing the Dragons again on the 14th.

I need to get to a Dragons game soon, they still sell out every day?

I need to get to a Dragons game soon, they still sell out every day? Technically, yes, but plenty of season ticket people don't show up for reasons unknown to me. You can buy a lawn seat for $9 and easily find an open seat in most any section. My buddy and 2 of his kids did that last night and sat next to me (I was using my parents season tickets) and 3 of my kids. And that was at the home plate end of the Dragons dugout, 9 rows up.

With all due respect to my beloved Vols, Tennessee has been awful, a SEC bottom feeder for several years running. One of the reasons I'm so high on Senzel (aside from my hometown bias - he went to my high school) is that he lit up SEC pitching for three years with absolutely no lineup protection whatsoever.

Dilson Herrera went 3 for 5 with a 3B, 2 R, and an RBI in his first game in the Reds organization hitting 2nd and playing 2B in AAA Louisville.

Sounds like RHP Rookie Davis was promoted to AAA, to fill their opening in the rotation.

Alex Blandino's last 20 games: .312/.384/.455
Hopefully he can continue that through the end of the season.
Also Shed Long just keeping raking at Daytona: .419/.438/.721

Also Shed Long just keeping raking at Daytona: .419/.438/.721 I was just about to post about Shed Long. The guy is 20 years old, and has 3hr and 14ribbies, in his first 43 ab's in high A, and he's not even on the MLB pipeline radar. Yet guys like Blandino get to stay on the list because he was a first round pick. Long is a much better prospect than Blandino, even though Long was a 12th round pick. His 5-8 frame is probably why he dropped so far, but I think the publications that rank these guys are a little lazy when they get past the top 10, and slant toward a player's pick position, rather than what you actually do in the minors, which is what in the end is what ultimately counts. Hopefully Blandino can "get it", but he is running out of time and he has a few 2bman in front of him in the organization.

Long was an undersized highschool selection (required to learn a new position) w/ a .400 BABip this season whilst Blandino was a proven D1 powerhouse hitter (and an adequate defender at 3 positions) w/ a .200 BABip this season, that is why one was ranked higher than the other. Alex will drop plenty this off-season and Long will climb plenty. Blandino is still the better prospect at this point in time.
