Released: IF Brodie Greene
---The Reds drafted Brodie in the 4th round of the 2010 draft out of Texas A&M, he signed for 113,000$. Greene came into the system as a SS but was quickly converted to 2B, he hit .253 - .317 - .346 in 530 minor league games for the Reds, never playing above AA. He turns 28 in September, his chances of ever playing in the bigs are likely gone now.
Traded to BAL for Cash $: RHP Michael Bowden
---The Reds signed Bowden this past December out of Japan.

Some are hurt, and aren't on rosters for that reason, which probably explains where the others are too. Good find, I hadn't noticed Junior Arias missing. Jonathan Crawford - injured Cory Thompson - injured Jonathan Reynoso - injured, I thought I read.... Argenis Aldazoro - injured, I thought I read... Ismael Guillon Junior F Arias - as you noticed and I didn't. Juan Duran - I don't think he earned a promotion to AAA, but maybe he's there when they announce. Dan Langfield Jon Matthews Gabriel Rosa, who I wouldn't be surprised to see sent back to extended spring training

Kevin franklin, think he has two years now under his belt in rookie league. But like you said hes probably battling a injury and leg out a little extended spring. Hopefully kinsm post the organazational depth chart again this year.

Kevin Franklin has played two seasons in rookie ball, but he hit .232 with a .278 OBP in 106 games and 445 plate appearances. 20 BB and 118 Ks. Only 5 homeruns. His numbers don't really show any improvement in the second year over the first. I think a strong argument can be made that he hasn't hit well enough to leave rookie ball. I don't think his failure to be promoted comes as any big surprise Hopefully Kevin Franklin will put things together after being a 2nd round draft pick - he's only 20 - but to me his career outlook looks pretty bleak. One of the bigger surprises is Taylor Sparks jumping from rookie ball to advanced A Daytona, although he at least walked, hit homeruns, and had a .350 OBP in his brief time in rookie ball. Compared to Kevin Franklin, I assume helps to show an importance of getting on base...

Im intrested to see what they are gunna do with mat magill and sampson, two guys they picked up one thru the hiesy trade and the other off waivers

Im intrested to see what they are gunna do with mat magill and sampson, two guys they picked up one thru the hiesy trade and the other off waivers Taylor Sparks' jump might have had something to do with Tanner Rahier's suspension or an excess of 1b/3bs (Gavin LaValley, Brian O'Grady) at Dayton, with them deeming him the most ready for Daytona and/or having the least to gain at Dayton. At least Sparks sounds the one who seems the most set at a position (3b) defensively. Yeah, I was just going to say that today's 'preliminary' Louisville roster has several surprises. It's 28 players, yet it doesn't include Matt Magill, Keyvius Sampson, Juan Duran (who seemingly might be headed there after being left off every other roster), Ryan LaMarre (might not be any good, but I expected him to be in AA or AAA anyway). Three catchers at Louisville - Chris Berset and Ramon Cabrera - presumably in case Tucker Barnhart gets called up to the Reds. Minor league free agents Nate Adcock, Chris Carpenter, Jose De La Torre, and Donovan Hand made the bullpen but Magill and Sampson didn't, much to my surprise.

I can see if dominguez doesnt work out this year, pena could move to off the bench instead of catching, and bring tucker up to back up mesoraco.

Pena has a two year contract correct? I can see if dominguez doesnt work out this year, pena could move to off the bench instead of catching, and bring tucker up to back up mesoraco. Yes, Pena is in the second and final year of a two year contract. No, moving him to the bench/pinch hit role isn't a realistic option. He's a switch hitter with a career OBP of .301 against RHPs and a career OBP of .273 against LHPs. He has very-little-to-no power, no speed, limited versatility. Most of his value comes from his ability to catch, not his hitting. If (or when) they cut Dominguez I'd rather see Josh Satin (assuming he starts hitting like he did in previous seasons, rather than struggling like he did all spring), Kristopher Negron (who's on the roster but may be reserved in case of a need for a backup shortstop, like the Reds often do with a backup shortstop or backup catcher), David DeJesus (who had an excellent spring, perhaps just freeing Negron for Dominguez's role), and/or Eugenio Suarez get a chance before a Pena/Barnhart role change. Or Donald Lutz. Or potentially Yorman Rodriguez, if he has a good season. Tucker Barnhart is unlikely to be called up unless there's an injury, trade (of Pena), or a roster expansion in September. If he is called up for another reason it's a sign the Reds are in trouble, like they were last year when they needed Pena to play 1b.
