Looks like I am going first and I picked the Reds that way. We have the pitching this year and our offense is good enough to get us first place. I think we have better pitching then the Brewers in the rotation andin the pen and the cubs are well......the cubs. They will find a awy to fold this year. The cards are off to a nice start but there pitching wont hold up IMO> so.....
1. Reds 2. Brewers 3. Cubs 4.Cards 5. Astros 6 Pitt

I was thinking third before the season. given both Cueto and VolKz' performances to begin the season, and the Cubs rough start....I'm going to bump that up to third.
If I could tell that both Cueto and VolKz would be consistent, I'd say first. That's just too much to ask from a pair of newcomers IMO.

I went with third. We are on the right track, but we still have a lot of youth and a fair number of question marks. Also, I'm still not sold on our team defense. I think 2009 is our more likely postseason arrival date.

I picked second because I think that the Reds would need a better bullpen to finish in first. Also, I think that Edwin and the lack of a good catcher will cost the Reds a few games, too.

I went with first because i'm a homer, but i do have some legitimate reasons.
1. The starting pitching could be the strongest it has been in years. VolKs and El Humo had their great starts against a very tough Phillies and a very tough DBack lineup respectively. If Belisle can get healthy and push Fogg for starts those two can push each other for better production from the last pitching spot and hte Reds could possibly be 5 deep this year. Even if it isn't 5 deep, it is the best it has been in years.
2. The offense is there. Kepp and Votto gettnig PT will make the o that much more dangerous.
3. Burton and Cordero have been great so far, and if the Reds can get contributions from Weathers, Mercker, Affeldt, Coffey, and Lincon it could be very good. Not to mention that Bray will replace whomever starts to suck before too long, and I think the pen can get a boost from a AAA arm at some point in the season.
4. I really like the way Dusty has handled the team through the first 6 games. He is clearly better than anyone the Reds have had since Trader Jack.
5. The Cubs will find a way to choke. I have 100 reasons (and counting) why I believe this.
6. Sheets will have his eventual arm injury (always happens) and their new stud pitcher Gallarado seems injury prone as well. Not to mention they have some bullpen issues of their own.

Looks like I am going first and I picked the Reds that way. I'd be shocked if Star wasn't super optimistic, but it's real exciting to see you being optimistic about the BIG CLUB instead of just the minor leaguers

I went with second, but would rather be wrong than right. I am very excited about the present team, and love the fact we have some good young talent for a change. I also think a few things are going to make us fans wait till next year. Our defense is not very good--obvious statement but have a feeling it will hold us back a little. Our young pitching will also be up and down I think. I have have a problem with Corey Patterson cause a high strikeout, all or nothing type hitter is usually not the best choice for leading off. Again I hope I am wrong...but just my honest opinion.

second seems right, right now...we'll see how the young pitchers hold up and how injuries play out, but Arroyo and Fogg are definitely the two weaker starters as of right now. I hope they have a breakout year, but I'll settle for just making the playoffs because once you do that anything can happen

Interesting to see how optimistic everyone has been so far. We can't ALL be deluded, I wouldn't think, and it seems pretty safe to assume we finish third. Unfortunately, second does us no good in our weak division. If the rotation stablilizes (and amazingly I'm talking about Arroyo and Fogg, not the youngsters), I think we're the best team on paper in the division. But we all know that means jack when talking about the Reds....

I'm realistic, this team isn't that good. Fourth place.

I feel like the Red's will finish third behind the Cubs and Brewers. I think the Cards are gonna fall, probably because of injuries and lack of depth. The Red's could conceivably get to second if the Cubs do their normal fall.

I have to say being realistic we will finish 2nd behind the brewers, but with some luck we can over take them.

With me trying to be realistic, here goes........
1.Brewers 1a. Reds 2.Cubs 3. Cards 4. Pirates 5. Astro's
*the reds and brewers finish the regular season with the same record. And the red's win in a tie breaker. haha
