We get a great example of hypocrisy on both sides of the aisle here on the filling of a Supreme Court vacancy. The problem is the Press only reports on the hypocrisy of Republicans. Republicans today want to do it like the 2016 Dems wanted to:

Republicans today want to do it like the 2016 Dems wanted to: It's hypocritical to expect logical consistency from Mitch McConnell and the Republicans???

We're not getting logical consistency from the Dems or the GOP on this one. They've both flipped in 4 yrs for obvious reasons. If you can't admit to that then you're a partisan hack. I'm saying that both sides are doing it and you're only mentioning one side. Can you be fair about looking at this or can you only see things through a partisan lens?

So, basically, the Republicans can lie, cheat, and steal their way to political advantage and power while the Democrats have to maintain consistency with the very governmental norms that the Republicans are disregarding??? Under this line of "reasoning", Republicans brought a gun to a knife fight and achieved the predictable outcome, but Democrats are *still* expected to show up at the next fight with only a knife??? Get. Real. The norms and rules only work when both sides respect them. The Republicans don't, which is why our entire system of government is in peril. If you can't recognize that, then you are a drowning in conservative propaganda.

That 2 min video documented the Dems' hypocrisy. You can't see it.

That 2 min video documented the Dems' hypocrisy. You can't see it. I don't need a video to do my thinking for me. I'm aware of the facts and circumstances surrounding the refusal of Mitch McConnell to hold a confirmation hearing on Obama's nominee for the Supreme Court and I'm aware of the facts and circumstances surrounding the intention of McConnell to now hold such a hearing on Trump's nominee. I understand the goal of Trump and his enablers is to stamp out the concepts of "truth" and "fact," but the rules of logic continue to operate and apply, even to those who abandon truth in favor of Trump's version of "reality." The hypocrisy of the Republicans is crystal clear to all but the rhinoceri among us.

The hypocrisy is crystal clear on the part of Republicans. On that we agree. But you refuse to see the hypocrisy of the Dems and that shows that you are not a fair, impartial political viewer. This explains a lot of your views in this section.

Is Trump's campain going broke? They just pulled all their planed TV ads in Arizona for the next few weeks, saving the campain around 580,000 dollars. Trump is only down around 4 points in Arizona so he still has a shot to win in a key state that he needs to win to be re-elected. Which makes this move very odd, unless they're pinching every penny they can. I don't like quoting myself, but it's now on record. The Trump campain is broke. "Trump’s total haul for August, when he got a week’s worth of free media from the Republican convention, was just $61.7 million. The campaign spent almost all of it, $61.2 million". The question is, Where are his big donners? The ones that came around from him in 2016? They seem to be silent this time...

This explains a lot of your views in this section. No, the main difference between you and me is that you are a rhinoceros and I am not. Right-wing propaganda has you fully and completely in its grasp. When you buy into attacks on "truth" and "facts" and then willfully abandon logic and the ability to think critically, then you become completely untethered and without agency. If you become unmoored from a grounding in fact and truth, then there is basically nothing that is implausible or impossible. You surrender your agency and become the plaything of the propagandist, who manipulates and uses you to accomplish his own self-serving goals. Propaganda and attacks on truth are why we have a disturbingly large segment of the population who believe in conspiracy theories like QAnon, which alleges that the world is run by a secret cabal of Satan-worshiping Democrats and Hollywood celebrities who are engaged in wide-scale child trafficking, pedophilia, and cannibalism. As bizarre as it is to write out the description of the QAnon conspiracy theory, it is even more bizarre to think of how many Americans actually believe it. Seriously, how could anyone believe that??? Because of propaganda. Propaganda operates through repetition. Drip, drip, drip. It seeks to muddy the waters to obscure truth/facts to the point where any idea, no matter how ludicrous, can be deemed believable. In such a post-truth environment, holding someone accountable for misdeeds is impossible. Propaganda is a tool that can be deployed to advance any ideology or political party. The following excerpt speaks to how the Nazis used propaganda to "untether" people. The modern day Republicans obviously aren't Nazis and, in point of fact, they actually have no real remaining political ideology or platform, but they have effectively weaponized propaganda against the American public to secure political power and the corrupt wealth that goes along with it. Propaganda is completely bizarre, but it's perfectly normal to those who yield to it. Sadly, that's where we are at in this current political climate: divided and living in entirely different realities.
Tragically, far too many Americans are now "caught in the mechanism," which was intentionally created by lies and propaganda that were, and are, disseminated by conservative media and the current administration. Propaganda can lure in anyone, regardless of how intelligent, educated, or wise, but if you want to avoid being transformed into a "giant horned beast" and completely surrendering your agency, then you have to actively guard against it and commit to a firm grounding in truth and fact.
Or, you could just permanently turn off Fox News....

So why is he pulling ads in key states? Between Aug. 10 and Sept. 7, Biden spent $97.7 million on broadcast and cable ads, while Trump spent $21.6 million, according to ad-tracking firm Advertising Analytics.
In some crucial battleground states Biden outspent Trump. In Wisconsin, Biden spent $9.2 million to Trump’s $1.5 million; in Florida, Biden spent $23.2 million to Trump’s $6.4 million; in Arizona, Biden spent $10 million compared to $1.4 million by Trump, and in North Carolina, Biden spent $11.5 million to Trump’s $3.7 million.Does that like a campain flush with money?

His campaign did have a massive shakeup lately due to the incompetence of how they've spent their money, and had to pull ad spending during August and September. They'll be on near equal footing with Biden in October though.

How is right wing propaganda telling me that Republicans are hypocrites and "we're not getting logical consistency from them"? Are you not reading what I write? What you're writing does not mesh with what I've said in this thread. Consider this another reason why you're a lost cause when it comes to debating politics. Here, I'll dumb it down for you: I can see fault on both sides of the aisle. You can't. People like you think there's an angelic party and a party of Satan. I don't see it that way. I see many similarities between the parties. Neither has morals. They all are power hungry. Neither cares about fiscal sanity. They both have more warts than attributes.
