I wasn't following this thread but read it afterwards. it's a lot of fun to read after the fact, to see the ebb and flow of hope, especially in a game like this. I seem to pull for EdE more than any other Red. When I played ball as a kid, I had a similar mix of strengths and weaknesses, including the apparent mental battles he appears to have. Great flashes, some clutch play, then some big gaff or confidence issues.
He's the type of player that's frustrating because he's all-star quality at his best and AAA at his worst. Eric Davis had some painful stretches for those that remember (although he rarely failed to do his job in the outfield). His hot streaks were so immense that you couldn't deal with the 0fers with 3 k's that he put up when he was struggling.
I'd like to think he's going to keep improving and put up a huge year but to this point, betting one way or another on Edwin is a crapshoot. My gut has always said to stick with him all the way. I was happy Krivsky didn't trade him away (missing out on the potential upside). I was happy his poor spring didn't negate what he accomplished last year. Tonight I'm happy he reminded everybody that he's worth suffering over. He's like a movie with a Hollywood ending. I can picture him doing the same in the postseason if the Reds stick to the script.

Good post If your not already join the board. We need E supporters. Agreed. I like his sentiment that "Edwin is worth suffering over." I'm not sure I've ever seen it put better!!!

Man what a fantastic ending to a game played very poorly by the Reds.
Hopefully this game will get us going.
That homer was huge for EE, he definitely needed something like that. Not only for himself mentally but for the simple fact that I think Freel would have started at 3rd tomorrow had he not hit the long ball.
You just have to let the kid play through this and also learn not to bunt him with men on. Seriously, what in the world was Dusty doing?
