22 strikeouts and 2 walks in his last 3 starts over 18.1 innings. Way more encouraging than anything we have seen since 2013.

Cody Reed still hasn’t found a way to stop walking folks at a rather prolific rate. However, he has managed to figure out a way to keep them from hitting him at all, too, and his June reflected that talent in a big way. In 33 IP (6 GS) for AAA Louisville, opposing batters hit just .179/.289/.214 against him - with no dingers at all, importantly - and in all he posted a 1.64 ERA and 1.09 WHIP for the month. He still is striking out batters at a solid rate, too, fanning 10.6 per 9 IP in June, which just might be enough to look past the 15 walks he issued in those 33 IP. Still a damn solid month, all told.
It’d be cheating a bit, but I could almost copy/paste Reed’s blurb and use it forRobert Stephenson, since the pair’s career arcs seemed destined to remain inexorably linked. Bob keeps walking guys with Louisville, but in his 5 June starts he allowed just a .136/.238/.330 line to his opposition. Of the 12 hits allowed in 102 PA, 4 went for homers, however, but he still managed a solid 2.73 ERA and 0.91 WHIP for the month while striking out more batters (27) than he had innings pitched (26.1), most all of which is a great step in the right direction.

Eh, Reed has been better with his control lately. In May, he has a 6.2 BB/9. In June, 4.1 BB/9. In his last start, Reed pitched 6.0 innings and walked only 1. He's trending in the right direction.

Definitely some encouraging news on both. How about Amir Garrett and Sal Romano?

He was mowing the league down starting out and now he can't do well against AAA batters. I know several on here had said they attribute it to his confidence being shaken from being sent down that first time, but at someone point you have to overcome that.

That's the most overblown thing I've ever heard. Thom loves bringing it up too. If your head can't handle being sent down you were destined to fail anyway.

^I have no idea about Garrett, nor do I really care.
But I'm sure plenty of big leaguers have/had anxiety issues. Some probably get treated, most probably don't. Those issues will prevent many of them from living up to their true potential, but some will battle through them.
Has nothing to do with destiny.

And it's probably not discussed enough.
This country as a whole is doing horribly with mental health.

Garrett was never really "mowing down the league" His ERA was nice and had a decent chunk of strikeouts but even when he was having success early his avg exit velocity allowed was pretty high so he was getting hit hard, his numbers were always very likely to regress a bit.

8 strikeouts, 1 walk last night. Make it 33 strikeouts, 3 walks, in his last 27.1 innings. Yes, he allowed a few runs, but he's missing bats and he's not missing the strike zone.

Ya he still gave up 8 hits, including 2 HRs but the K:BB ratio is a nice improvement. He at least seems to have gotten the message to throw strikes. Will be interesting to see if he takes Feldman's spot in the rotation or if they still want to see more long term consistency from him before bringing him back up.

7 walks later, the answer seems to be....no.

7 walks later, the answer seems to be....no. HAHA. My point exactly. I am just done with Stephenson. Have been for a while. He just is not getting any better really. He was no Chris Gruler 1st round pick, but he isn't turning any corner either, just getting older. I am ready to move on DFA him or see if you can find someone else who thinks a change of scenery is what he needs and get anything in return for him.
