Just wanted to run this thought by you all, since now the Sox have Sandoval, and Hanley they do have a glut of OF's. They need a LH bat in their lineup bad and they need pitching. This could be the perfect oppurtunity for us to try to trade them Bruce/Latos/ and possibly Simon For Cespedes, Betts and something else. This does not block Winkler at all. We get Cespedes for a year, and a young Betts to man RF. We save on salary about 1.5 million on bruce to cespedes, and we dont have to try and sign cespedes long term with winkler in the pipes.
we could then try and spend the money we have on a SS/RP or a 3rd/4th starter as good as leake. and Sign Cueto long term.
positions would be
LF - Cespedes CF - Hamilton RF - Betts 3rd - Frazier SS - Cozart/(F/A) 2nd - Phillips 1st - Votto C - Mesoraco
SP - Cueto SP - Bailey SP - F/A (Lirano/Masterson) SP - Leake SP - Cingrani/Stephanson
Just a thought.

If, the Sox are willing to deal Betts Jocketty should roll up his sleeves and get the deal done. By the way I'd put Betts at SS. Some scouts believe b/c of his athleticism he can be highly capable there. Also, this leaves the Red's lineup with just Votto and Hamilton as the only LH capable hitters. Not balanced.

I don't see why finding a left fielder has to be so complicated... Uh, but it is. WJ has been on this journey for some 3 or 4 years now. If this was the Cardinals they would have filled this need within 2 months of the end of the season. Alas, we are at the mercy of the masterminds of the Red's front office and its majority owner.

But when Jocketty did sign a left fielder, he signed someone who was actually a left fielder, or at least had been one in a former life. It could have worked out, bloke just injured himself...
