I'm just curious if anyone else listens to this radio program. It usually airs on Saturdays and I think ESPN radio typically carries it. Costas has guests from all walks of life on the show and engages in comprehensive, sound bite free conversation. I find it to be very enjoyable and unfortunately a bit of a rarity.
Most interview programs these days are Leno like bits, where the guest comes on for 5 minutes of superficial chit-chat and a song-and-dance. This show really flushes out the issues of the day and Costas really does a nice job.
In addition, I will highly recommend the Town Hall Meeting episode of Costas Now on HBO. Costas put on a Town Hall style show, which included an in-depth discussion of contemporary sports media. It has become infamous for Buzz Bissinger's lambasting Deadspin.com's Will Lietch, but the entire show was well worth watching.
From where I sit, this country needs more programming from Bob Costas, rather than a bunch of former player, talking heads yelling at each other over god knows what. It's nice to see some actual substantive discussion in the media today, as it isn't as frequent an occurrence as it used to be.
