This is a fake trade thread. Anything in this thread is fictional and should be for entertainment purposes only.
Thought that I would throw out a couple of deals that I think could help the Reds this year and also why they would.
Willits for Bray and Belisle.
reason--Reds need a lead off hitter and a CF. Willits fills both needs. Keeps Bruce in RF where he is more comfortable and his glove plays better. Willits is also a scrappy player which always seems to play well with the Cinncinnati fan base.
Reason why the Angels do it---They have a ton of OF depth and while alot of their OFs are old and injury prone they also still have youth. They can use another starter now with Lackey out a month and could use a bullpen arm with Brays talent. IT would be basically a trade of talent they really can't use for average talent that they can.
Ken Griffey Jr back to the Mariners for Clement
Reason the Reds do it--Need for a potential impact catcher and the fact that Griffey is blocking the best prospect in the game.
Reason the Mariners do it--Clement is blocked, and bringing back Griffey would be a major PR move on their part that would really boost attendance. Plus if he DHs occasionally Griffey stands a good shot at staying healthy. If healthy Griffey is still a productive hitter.

The padres are in need of a CF with injuries coming up and I think we could get a A ball prospect with a big arm.

I know I'm in a minority of one, but I'd still like to see the Reds make a run at Brandon Inge, especially if it means dumping a bad contract or two on the Tigers in exchange.
I'm really not sold on Edwin at third. Inge would be a huge defensive upgrade and would see his offense benefit from the GABP effect.
I'm not sure how it would work at this point of the season, but I would've given serious consideration to bringing Inge in this off season.
In fact, if memory serves, I wanted to do the following:
Trade Stanton + Low Level Prospect for Brandon Inge + Cash.
Trade Edwin + Coffey to the Giants for Kevin Correia + Brian Wilson.

Even though I love Freel and always love the utlity spark plug Freel that he once played for us, it's obvious his services aren't needed here anymore. I'd like to trade him for a solid pitching prospect that doesn't have electcrifying stuff, but one that can cause some ground balls here in this park. That should be Krivsky's goal right now, to stockpile the minors with groundball pitchers for cheap prices seeing as they tend to be overlooked by a market that demands power pitchers.

Freel and Stanton just need to be dumped on someone, anyone willing to take them on this year. We won't get anything of value out of Freel, so we might as well get rid of his contract.
