Despite impressing Dusty, it looks like Chris Dickerson has been included in the first wave of cuts along with Paul Janish and Justin Lehr. I wish the Reds would carry Janish instead of Juan Castro and Dickerson instead of Corey Patterson, but the path is clearing for Corey Patterson to be our everyday centerfielder. How the hell did that happen?

2nd Wave of Cuts
Reds reassigned infielder Adam Rosales and RHP Jon Adkins to minor league camp; optioned C Craig Tatum and RHP Daryl Thompson to Double-A Chattanooga. Rosales hit .321 with a homer in 28 at-bats and was mentioned as a possibility to make the team in Alex Gonzalez's plans, but he should probably start off back in Double-A. Adkins pitched three scoreless innings.

I wouldn't mind seeing Bruce get some triple A time myself. Provided that the Reds aren't running out a CF tandom that is hurting the team.
Patterson isn't much but he can at least go get it. Rather see Bruce ready to go for one of the corner slots since I think his glove would play better there.

Even though I rolled my eyes when Hairston and Patterson signed, I'm ok with Patterson in a platoon in center now that I've seen the competition.
With Dunn and Griffey in the field, our centerfielder has got to flat out go and get it. After watching Hopper, Freel, and Bruce in Sarasota, they don't fit that description in my opinion - not bad, just not Cameron-esque.
With the say the offense stacks up on paper, I'm perfectly fine with Patterson's career numbers. Where Dusty bats him is another matter. Patterson is no leadoff hitter.

I've been OK with the cuts made so far.
Dickerson is all glove no bat, unless he can prove that he can hit in AAA this year, he'll never be anything more than a defensive replacement with a little pop in his bat, but terrible contact.
Janish is a lot of the same, albeit if Juan Castro makes the team then i'm gonna puke. Janish is the younger, slightly more talented version of Castro who hasn't been slowed down by injuries.
Rosales will be a good backup/platoon/bench player, but he still has a little bit of everyday potential so he should play in AA/AAA this year and make the club next year as the new super sub.
I would rather Tatum make the team than Bako, but Tatum has only half a year in AA so a little more time in the minors would do him some good.
Thompson is starting exactly where he should be, in AA, hopefully earning a callup to AAA by the all-star break.

Reds optioned RHP Gary Majewski and LHP Jon Coutlangus to Triple-A Louisville. "They told me they brought too many guys (pitchers) into camp and that didn’t give me much of an opportunity," said Majewski. "I didn’t pitch much and that’s why I was frustrated." Majewski can go ahead and be frustrated, but the simple fact is that he wasn't any good this spring. On Sunday, he gave up three runs on two hits and two walks in one inning of work.
Man, Majewski just doesn't get it. How can he complain about anything given his pathetic performance since he set foot in Cincy???
Believe me, Gary, Wayne and Co. would like nothing better than for you to actually be productive to make The Trade look less embarrassing.

I think we may be nearing the time to just cut bait with Majewski.
