Had the opportunity to see Homer Bailey last night at the Indians/Bats game. Homer was behind home plate with I believe Tom Shearn recording stats and doing what ever pitchers do on their night off.
He told a couple of people he couldnt sign autographs during the game but would after which is understandable. Well after the final pitch in the bottom of the ninth a couple of people approached him asking for a picture and autograph.
In a haste he rushed towards the exit/locker room saying after the game and not now....let me remind you the game is OVER!
wtf Homer...are you too good to take 5 minutes to sign an autograph and take a pic? Its not like there was a 100 people maybe 5 at the most.
Needless too say Homer has lost a lot of my respect.
On the other hand Jay Bruce was talking to fans and signing autographs, props to Jay (who also had a hell of a game!)

Yeah, that is a candlestick move...I don't really care how a player acts if he performs, but obviously it's a plus if they're a likable guy.
Props to Bruce though, I remember hearing a funny story how Bruce used to call the Mariners stadium every day asking to speak to Mr. Griffey. Awesome guy who's always had the determination to be here, hope he pans out.

I forget where I read this, reds.com, probably, but I remember seeing a story about how Bailey doesn't even like baseball and never watches a game if he's not playing. He considers an experience the vast majority of Americans never get to participate in to be a little side hobby of his, like playing video games or something.
His lack of respect for the game induces a lack of respect for him.
I agree, not a personable guy, and not appearing to be the sensation we expected him to be. I sure hope this guy isn't a bust.

Him not liking the game was blown up in the media......come to find out all he said was he liked hunting more. He likes baseball butlikes hunting more. No biggie. The I dont like baseball story was a media story only......
As for him not signing I went to spring training in 2007 and Homer signed all 7 days I was there like all the time. So maybe you just caught him at a bad time.
It happens.
Oh and Bailey is pitching very well in AAA right now at age 21

Let's face it, we need Homer to pitch well up in the bigs if we want to take the next step. A front four of Harang, Cueto, Volquez and Bailey would be awesome. Plus, it'd allow us to move Arroyo's salary if we could find some sucker out there.

Homer's an arrogant prick, and ive heard that from numerous ppl. He claimed after he was drafted to be a strong christian man, but if thats the case then he should be kind. AS a christian myself i might not always feel like being a nice person but do anyway to strangers, especially if they wanted my autograph...

Doesn't seem to Christian-like to call someone an arrogant prick, lol....

lol...true...i asked for that
i should say, from what ive heard from others he's an arrogant prick...ive never had a personal experience so maybe he is a wonderful guy. Seriously, he will probably be fine, he's probably just not adjusting to all the fame and the ups and downs he's had so far, which might cause him to have an attitude at times...

Something tells me Homer has likely been humbled by his early struggles and the breakout of volks and cueto.
