Does Lehr deserve a shot in the rotation before Bailey? I'd like to see Homer work yet more on command and his off-speed pitches and with how Lehr has been dominating through his first 4 starts, I think he deserves a shot. I know he is 30 already, but he has a decent fastball/changeup combo, and another decent offspeed pitch to go with it. here are his AAA stats so far
4 Games Started 27 IP (Just under 7 IP per start) 3-0 1.33 ERA 0.78 WHIP 18 K 3 BB .196 BAA 1.61 Groundball/Flyball ratio
I'd rather Homer prove his command and offspeed stuff a little more before he get the call back to the show, and i'd be interested to see what Lehr has to offer.

I was at the game last night in Indy.....
Lehr looked strong nothing special but he got the job done. Worked efficently and never really got in a jam.
Bray looked strong in his 2 innings he pitched. He's ready to come back up.

I saw Lehr pitch all winter in the mexican league. He´s nothing special, just like Tom Shearn a year ago. Both dominated in the winter but the winter ball in México is a pitcher´s paradise, because almost every ball park is at sea level. I rather have Homer up.

It's not that i'm saying that Lehr is anywhere near on bailey's talent level, but I that I want Bailey to focus on the slider, changeup, and command a little more before he gets back to the show.
Reports are that Bailey has shortened up his stride to home and tha thas helped the command quite a bit. This is still a change and I want him to get more comfortable with it still.
Not to mention i'd like to see him start striking out more guys with the changeup and slider because his fastball isn't going to fool any good MLB hitters until they have to respect the offspeed stuff in any count as well.

I like Lehr right now because if he keeps numbers like that up then he has actually earned the call up.

Bailey is more experienced. Therefore, he deserves the call first. And we don't want to risk exposing Lehr before he is ready, which is what we did to Bailey last year.

Do not even think about bringing Lehr up PLEASE.....lol
He is a career Minor leaguer for a reason. He is getting guys out on guts alone right now. That does not work at the next level. I do agree however we should keep Bailey in AAA at least for a few more months. His control is better his stride is shorter and he is working on a slider. That being said let him work on it more. He is the future I say give Alfeldt a shot before I call bailey up. We could then move Bray up to replace him in pen.
No need to rush bailey this time.

Now I dont want to see another solid-bullpen-man-turned-starter catastrophe, but we did sign him to earn a spot in the rotation, so maybe we ought to give him a shot or two before we rush Bailey up again, and definitelybefore we call up Lehr.
