DFA today .... bum. Just didnt rub me the right way last season, always whining and complaining that he didnt get a fair shot meanwhile his ERA sat around 8.
The A's also designated right-hander Kirk Saarloos for assignment. The A's brought Saarloos back for a second stint with the club this season, signing him in January to a minor league contract. He was traded to Cincinnati from Oakland in January 2007 after three years with the A's. He went 1-5 with a 7.17 ERA in 34 games and three starts during four stints with the Reds.
Oakland called him up to the majors on April 14 and he pitched in two games with a 2.35 ERA. He went 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in two starts for Triple-A Sacramento.
"I would like to keep him when that process goes through," Geren said. "He's done nice work for us."
