Could Edwin be far behind? The Tigers announced that Miguel Cabrera will begin playing first base on a regular basis, with Carlos Guillen moving to third. If they weren't trying to sign Cabrera to a long-term deal, there's a good chance they would have arranged it this way in the first place. Now that Cabrera is signed for eight years, he won't have to worry about a switch diminishing his value. As much of a liability as he was at third, he should prove to be quite a bit more valuable to the Tigers at first base. Fantasy leaguers, though, will be upset the team didn't wait another week to make the switch. He's played only 14 games at third, making it unlikely that he'll qualify there next year in most leagues.

I think it's more likely that Edwin gets traded than moved to first, given what Votto has been doing.

Or EE gets moved to LF when Dunn walks.

Votto's at 1B for the next 4 years minimum. It's LF or one more stab at 3B for Edwin. Hopefully one of Juan Francisco, Chris Valiaka, or Todd Frazier is ready for 3B in 2010.

I am not saying that EE cant play LF, but we cant assume that he can be thrown out there and have him be more successful then dunn. EE has excellent reflexes and makes the hard plays, he gets into trouble when he has time to think. Look at Dunn, he has played LF his entire career and still cant make routine reads on hit balls. Just saying theres no guarantee EE would stick in the OF.
