and can play SS, why again is Juan Castro on this team? Hairston could at least provide another utility infielder and RH bat off the bench.
.421 avg .450 OBP 3 HR 7 2B 2 3B 1 SB
Juan Castro couldn't put up half of any of those #'s in AAA let alone in the majors.

castro is a complete waste of space, especially for a weak bench. bring up hairston unil he shows he doesnt belong and then move to plan b....??

I'm at a loss, I've never knew that Hairston Jr. could play SS. I do know that he can barely survive defensively as a secondbaseman. That's why his previous teams made him learn to catch flyballs.

Agreed. Hairston would be a real stretch at short. I would imagine he would only play there in emergencies.

Cabrera may not have been hitting as well as Hairston, but he was hitting well and has a much better glove.
