I thought I'd post instructions for getting an avatar on this site, so here goes:
Let's see, here's how I did it.
1. Go to the "Profile" link near the top of the page.
2. That will pull up the "Member Bio," then click "Modify Profile."
3. Scroll down to the "Personal Information Section."
4. You can choose from the "Avatar" drop down box, but those are pretty limited.
5. If you don't want to do that, then you can enter a web address that links directly to a photo in the "Avatar URL" slot.
6. After that, you can change the dimensions of the Avatar photo by adjusting the "Avatar Width" and "Avatar Height" fields.
That should do it. Hopefully that works for you, if not, then let me know. I think the big key is that the Web URL you provide has to link directly to a photo, not an article with a photo in it or anything like that.

Thanks for posting how to do that, cause I would have had no idea otherwise and did not want to ask.
Now I will ask another stupid question, but I have never posted on a message board till this one...sometimes people put a previous post in a little yellow box to reply to it...how do you do that? Thanks

Thanks No worries. Instead of clicking the "reply" button underneath the post, click on the "quote" button above the post. This will open up a text box just like reply, but it will include the previous poster's post in a box.

By clicking the "modify" button next to the "quote" button, you can also go back and edit what you previously posted.
