I still think it's a terrible idea. Why not play weekend baseball during the day?
I can understand it if it is 110 degrees outside, but that's rarely the case. Get out there and play in the sunshine, not under the lights!!!

Awesome point Lark, I am in total agreement with ya there, day games are so nice to watch, especially in the summer. But just like everything else in our lives its all about the money. and well if your an out of towner who drives about 3+ hours to a game to see one, and if its at night and the game does not get over till 10-11 pm, a lot more people will spend money and get a hotel in the area, since its so late. That way it can generate more revenue for the city.
Again its all about the money!!

Good point, I hadn't thought about having to spend the night and spend money on a hotel.
Cash is certainly king, but there is no excuse for not playing afternoon baseball. I think that holds for the World Series games as well. No reason to have Saturday and Sunday night games in the Fall Classic.

agreed..anyone have little kids? They have lost all interest in baseball cause its bedtime by the time the game ends. Exactly! Not to mention, the games in October become almost unwatchable due to the number of commercials they wedge in between innings. Seriously, the games went on for an eternity this past postseason. MLB needs to make a few changes to its postseason format, because the playoffs should be enjoyable to all.

It felt like they dragged on forever. MLB needs to get that fixed ASAP, because that's not the kind of capper MLB should have to a 162 season. How many 4-5 hour games do we need in October? Let's pick up the pace a bit!!!

Thanks...I understand its about the money..and thats fine. My issue is like Lark wrote about tonight. Its April and Sat. Night..do I take my young child to the game or just stay home? We are on this board cause we love the game of baseball..the sport has us already...they need to think of the next generation cause the sport is losing them fast...From my opinion thank goodness for the minors and some wonderful people and players keeping my children into the sport cause I will not let them stay up till one AM to watch a playoff game..and it pisses me off to not let them.

I've often wondered why baseball isn't as popular with the kids as it used to be. I've got my own theories, but it's something that needs to be addressed. It's a great game and the next generation deserves a chance to enjoy it and grow into it as well.

I agree, and I couldn't have seen much of the game either way.
