Man, I'm not sure what side of the Over/Under I want to be on. I took the under, but who knew ~8 hits a side would be asking a lot.

Keppinger's slumps don't last long. He has only 1 k since opening day. Also, Patterson only has 2 k's, which is about as important as obp especially with the Reds' offensive woes. Last inning was a good example, putting the ball into play, beating out the double play chance, stealing a base, and scoring. The obp would be none-the-wiser. The old Patterson would have 10 k's by now. Agreed. I love OBP, but in my opinion good baserunning hasn't been properly valued by the sabermetric community just yet.

Rejoice over that call, which as Marty said is rare. The 1st baseman pulling off early. I think I saw Votto do it earlier this year but thankfully it didn't get called.

Votto's up to .292 but it's undoubtedly one of the weaker .292's ever hit. That was his first RBI. Still, this is a good hitter on an upward trajectory in my opinion. I think he will get the majority of the starts from here on and when the sun is shining in GABP, I see some multi-homer or 3-4 games coming.
I think the Reds' difficulties with left-handers may be overstated. It seems that came around midyear last year. I don't know where to get double team splits but I think at least if you check BP, Kepp, EdE, and Hopper last year, things turned around. It's not going well so far this year admittedly. One problem is that with Patterson playing 2/3 of the games (against righties), the right-hander in the platoon won't have a lot of opportunities to get in a groove (ala Hopper or Freel). Patterson has defied some expectations so far, so I'm starting to consider the idea that you just pencil him in against lefties and see what happens. As much as I've been a fan of Hopper, I don't know if he will get going starting 1/3 or 1/6 of the starts. With Patterson's defense and Hopper's lack of upside, I'm starting to waver on that platoon. It's odd that we kind of miss Cantu out of the guys we've lost.

I'm not suggesting Cantu for CF ;D by the way, just another thought.

I think it'll be difficult for Hopper to impress in such limited playing time. He's the kind of guy who needs to be in there on a day in and day out basis for people to appreciate what he brings to the table. As it stands, Patterson is likely to be the full-time starter this year. I still like Hopper as our leadoff hitter, but it's impossible to argue against what C-Pat has brought to the table this year.

Edwin's defense may ultimately result in the men in white coats knocking on my door this year. Either that or I may just develop an ulcer. My goodness, he is terrible!!!!

Well I didn't want to see another failed scoring threat but at least we're poised for a meaningful ninth (assuming the bullpen doesn't falter). The idea being that if Griffey/Phillips/Dunn can't produce a run, then this team is doomed for mediocrity. And if this becomes a prolonged problem, I can see the Reds moving Bruce into a corner spot with some big money feelings hurt.

Jesus, Phillips, that was so non-clutch.

Wow, closed it out with a whimper. Have we really dropped two games to the Pirates?

Definitely one of the more infuriating series we've played in recent history, considering we are supposedly contenders this year and have scored 3 runs out of 23 men on base vs. one of the worst teams in baseball...
Suffice it to say I've just bought my third new remote since Friday, I kid you not.
