Not sure about the rest of you but I am stoked about this kid. We may be witnessing the 2nd coming of Jake Peavy here - Under-rated as a prospect, excellent control of 3 pitches, right-hander, slight build, and fearless.
I just hope we can avoid over-working him in those critical first 2 years.

I think the Reds are in a good position to not overwork him as they have made great strides in the bullpen this year, are putting him in as a #3, not as the #1 right away, and even next year he would still be the #2 behind Harang. He pitched around 184 innings last year and it didn't even seem to phase him.

I think everyone in Reds land SHOULD be fired up about Cueto, as I think he's legit. He's got Homer type stuff AND the ability to command it.
Given that he dominated three levels last year, he certainly doesn't seem intimidated by anything. He's got the confidence, stuff, and command to be successful RIGHT NOW.
I still think he's the 2nd best starting pitcher on the staff right now and if the Reds give him a legitimate shot and a bit of rope, then he could be a stud in 2008.

I would be VERY disappointed if he isn't in the rotation. If Volquez doesn't make it I will be mad too but not as much as I would be if Cueto doesn't. It would make no sense to not start him because he gives us the best chance to win NOW and his development will only benefit later. I love that his out pitch is the changeup because when its thrown correctly it does little damage to the arm.
I've been bragging to my friends who haven't heard of him until recently and now they are getting excited about him too. Can't wait to see him pitch this season.

I don't see how they could possibly keep him out of the rotation at this point without a HUGE negative reaction from the fan base. They could maybe argue Volquez, but he SHOULD be in the rotation as well. It seems like things have become pretty clear to me about the rotation at this point in the spring:
Aaron Harang Bronson Arroyo Johnny Cueto Josh Fogg Edison Volquez
That should be the rotation. 3 expereinced arms, 1 potential phenom, and another promising power arm at the back end of the rotation. The only downside is that they are all righties, but i'd rather put out all righties in the rotation than try to force a starting pitcher. The bullpen is less clear at this point, but Cueto emerging could make the Reds rotation one of the better ones in the NL.

i was impressed at his ability to come back strong after being in some trouble yesterday! I'm hoping he's our number 3
