The White Sox are reportedly looking to deal lhp Garrett Crochet and apparently want position player prospects in return. The Reds are overloaded with hitting prospects. As of now, Crochet has 4.028 seasons of service time, so his team will have two seasons of control remaining. Last year, he earned $800K and, obviously, he's due for a raise in his second season of arbitration. The Reds line up very well for a Crochet trade. In fact, I'm not sure any other team can go toe-to-toe with us in terms of prospect-capital (okay, maybe Baltimore). What about a package of Noelvi, Edwin Arroyo, and Sal Stewart? Or, swap Collier in for one of those three. Or CES? Or India? Or Steer? Adding Crochet to the top of the rotation along with Hunter Greene gives the Reds a much deeper overall rotation and a much better top of the rotation. We need to clear up some of our position player logjam, this feels like the ideal way to do it.

The MLB Trade Rumors guys said it would require a blue chip prospect like Burns even though the White Sox would prefer hitters. They think any package built around Arroyo and one of Collier or Stewart is fairly easily beat by some other team. I put the odds of us trading Burns at about 0.5%.

Yeah, I don't know that Burns has significantly more value than Noelvi, CES, and a few others. But, would I flip Burns and, say, Arroyo for Crochet? Yeah, I probably would; if that would get it done.
