Reds are in an interesting place here as they will probably be the first team to make a claim on any of the 5. I doubt they have interestin the 2 outfielders, but the 3 pitchers I actually see them making a claim here. Let’s look at the 3
lucas Giolito is the only starter and the Reds could definitely use a decent innings eater. However he has struggled mightily with the Angels, with an ERA north of 6. He gives up a lot of home runs which doesn’t play well in GAP. Also he is owed 1.7 million the rest of the year for those reasons I believe the reds will pass.
Matt Moore ERA under 3. Good experienced lefty that could throw multiple innings, AlexYoung hurt so the Reds could do worse with his replacement. Still he is owed a million for the rest of the year, my gut tells me the reds will pass here, unless Young is hurt worse than I think and will miss the rest of the year.
Reynoldo López. ERA a tick under 4. Big arm. Strikes out a ton, still more hittable than he should be. He is owed less than half a million for remainder of the year. My prediction is this is the guy the Reds will claim. All are free agents at the end of the year. I believe he could be a good candidate to resign with the Reds especially if he likes the team and area. He also pitched well with the White Sox when they were contenders. 3 million a year for 2 or 3 years should get him to stay.
So if money wasn’t an issue I might gamble on Giolito, but it is, so I think the best fit is López today and in the future.

Cleveland took all 3 pitchers. My guess is they will try and trade them which they can if they can get them through waivers if not they will pull them back. That’s if I understand the waivers correctly.

That’s if I understand the waivers correctly. If they were on revokable waivers then they would have the rights for trade. In this case they did not go on revokable waivers and they go to the Giardians

Evidently the reds did make claims on the pitchers but the Indians beat them to it which is surprising. They basically have no shot at the playoffs.

You just need this site in your life. www.mlbtraderumors.com/I do check it out. However, at least today at the time I looked they had nothing on those claims and it was definitely after 1. Another thing I was wrong on, I thought that if a waiver was awarded say the Indians had Giolito listed first, they went to the bottom. I didn’t realize they could have added everyone. good to know I guess.

Turns out even if the Indians didn’t claim the relievers the Marlins would have. So the reds wouldn’t have gotten them anyhow. Maybe Giolito, but I think his home run rate would have had me holding my breath to much. Still find it interesting that The Indians made the claims, as they actually have the exact same record as the Angels do. Are the Indians now eligible for draft pick compensation if Giolito signs elsewhere? That’s the only upside I see if so. Actually if they are awarded pick compensation then It goes from a head scratcher to a pretty shrew move by their GM for me.
I know the Indians are now the guardians and the Redskins are the Commanders but they will always be the Indians and the Redskins to me, at least until the Braves are forced to change their name as well. I take way to much ambien to ever become “woke”.

I was looking up the Cowboys record from the late 90s and saw the records from the nfc east. The Redskins were listed as the Commanders.
It's not enough for cancel culture to change the present and future, they want to rewrite history as well. Total revision to their preferred reality.
