Looking to spend a long weekend in some road city with a group of buddies that like to booze and chase women, with some Reds baseball mixed in on the road.
Wrigley is out, been there done that too many times. Plus I hate their fans.
St Louis, Milwaukee, Atlanta, DC, Cleveland, Philly, Pittsburgh...?
Any thoughts on the road cities "nearby"?

I love Wrigley and there is always something to do in Chicago, so I'd be tempted to go there, but if that's out of the picture I'd be tempted to take in the new Nationals' ballpark.

I can't believe I missed this thread before! I have a great story. I am a die hard Red's fan but unfortunately I live in Connecticut. 2 Seasons ago I made the drive, straight trip, with 2 of my buddies from Connecticut to Ohio to see Great American Ballpark ((also my first mlb baseball game!)) The drive was actually beautiful, about 14 hours I think. I saw the reds lose to the cards 5-1 behind arroyo, the only run a javier valentin solo shot lol and the night before was david ross's walk off homer it was still a great time though. We got there early to watch the reds warm up and of course my Connecticut friends had to being wearing their yankees stuff, and even despite my freel jersey and hat david weathers refused to give me a ball because of the hats my friends were wearing, I was a little upset but i figured this road trip had to be one of the top road tips to see the reds out of anyone on this board

If its a long weekend take in Camden Yards and the Nationals new park.
I'm definately not the guy to talk about this though, I haven't been more then 30 miles from my house in probably five years.

From what I've heard the Pirates park is really beautiful, and you're pretty likely to see the Reds post some W's there. Not sure if there's a whole lot to do in Pittsburgh other than that though.

I think one of the most underrated venues that you can drive to from Cincy is Milwaukee. I had a great time at their ballpark (which is very nice) and the city in the summer really comes alive. We were there for a Friday, Saturday, Sunday series and there were like three different outdoor festivals going on with great food and great microbrews.
Before old Tiger Stadium was vacated (in it's last season), my friends and I went to see the Reds/Tigers in Detroit. It was a great place to watch a game! A real jewel! Unbeknownst to us, it was also a weekend honoring the Negro League teams. So, the teams wore throwback uniforms during the Sunday game. The game was a great game with a Reds win (I thought we were going to get beaten up by some Tigers fans we were celebrating so much). It was also a day when I witnessed a then-unknown flamethrower named Matt Anderson (what could have been with this guy). He hit 100, 101, and 102 on the gun, and you could hear it on every pitch. We were all blown away and thought he would be the next great closer. Didn't happen of course, but it was cool to watch.

St. Louis is a cool town if you are willing to make the 8 hour drive.
