This is nothing more than a link to a Twitter page. Is there something here you want to discuss? Certainly it isn't news that W.E.B Dubois was not a fan of Gen Lee. Both of these men have been dead for a long time.

Both of these men have been dead for a long time. Sometimes I post things that are well written. Sometimes I post things that are insightful. Sometimes I post things that I think others might like to read. Sometimes I post things that I may want to revisit in the future. This time it happens to be all of the above.

Well this was not a link to a well written piece. It was a link to someone's Twitter account.

I'm thoroughly confused. I'm not extolling any Twitter user. Do you not see the excerpt of W.E.B DuBois' writing in this thread? You shouldn't have to leave this site to read it, so the Twitter account that posted it isn't relevant, nor are the political views of the person who tweeted it. Sometimes a W.E.B. DuBois excerpt is just a W.E.B. DuBois excerpt and nothing more.
Engage with the substance of the DuBois writing in the first post of this thread or don't, but you seem to be going to extraordinary lengths to try to discredit the post, including by attacking the person who tweeted it....which is a bit odd.
So DuBois' specific thoughts on the subject are somehow less valid because you disagree with the political views of the person who tweeted it out???

If you want to extol the writings of Dubois, can't you do it w/o linking a socialist's Twitter feed? All I found was a picture of a couple pages out of a book. It gives no context and I question where the thoughts start and end. It's not the way to judge someone's writings

I was able to get the pages to enlarge and could read them. Pretty brutal assessment of Lee's participation in the Civil War. I did not know much about DuBois. Spent some time reading about him and his work. Impressive, thanks for posting.
