In the 1970 NLCS vs the Pirates I was instrumental in helping the Reds win the NL pennant. In the first game of the NLCS I tripled and scored the winning run in the 10th inning. In game 3 of the NLCS I walked in the 8th inning and scored the pennant clinching run for the Reds. I appeared in under 50 games and batted under 80 times during the regular season before making a name for myself in the NLCS. Who am I?

Time for a clue. In game one of the 1970 World Series in the 6th inning I hit a high chopper back to the mound. This led to one of the most botched calls in World Series history. Everyone remembers this play. Carbo scores. Umpire Ken Burkhart calls Carbo out as Elrod Hendricks had tagged Carbo out with an empty glove.

That would be Ty Cline, if I recall.

That would be Ty Cline, if I recall. You are correct. Impressed that you remembered this. You must be quite the student of Reds baseball history.

1970 was the year I fell in love with the BRM.
