I only played one season for the Reds but did appear in over 100 games that year. I was drafted twice, was signed as a free agent 6 times, but never traded. My career lasted 10 years. My Father played 15 years in the major leagues and missed winning a batting title one season because he was short by just 34 at bats. My Father might also be remembered from an exhibition game vs Boston. In that game he hit a monster home run and when the groundskeeper went looking for the ball he found it next to a dead body. The body was of Fred Burden who was wanted for murdering prize fighter James Cocio. Still trying to find out if Fred was murdered or if he was killed by the ball. Who are they?

I have no idea, but the first MLB draft was held in 1965. So, if he was drafted twice, then his MLB career likely couldn't have gotten started before 1970 at the very earliest. If he signed as a free agent six times, then he was very likely a journeyman type player. The bloodline type players that leap to mind (The Boones, David Bell, Eduardo Perez, Pete Rose Jr., etc) either played too much for the Reds or not enough. Narrowing it down is the best I can do.

Another clue. The father has managed a World Series winning team. That should give it away.

So. What ex Reds player has managed 2 World Series winning teams? Both his championships were within the last 30 years.

Winner! Sorry about getting the two confused and thinking the Father was the old Red Sox skipper. Thanks for catching that Schellis.
