Why is he being valued so highly now? Did I miss something that made him a great catcher. I always thought of him as above average.
I keep reading post on diffrent websites about how great of a deal David Bailey and Devin Mesoraco with Ryan Hanigan for Bengi Molina would be for both teams.
I think it would be awful.
Bailey and Mesoraco's potential out weights anything Molina brings and then add in Hanigan also. Now yes Hanigan isnt anything special and proabley just so they have a catcher in the MLB to replace Molina or Molina's backup who would become the starter but just the idea that it would take 2 good prospects and we would still have to replace his roster spot for them astounds me.

I don't believe that deal would happen in a million years.... I'd say it'd be questionable to even say we'd make that deal for Russell Martin...lol

Yeah, that deal is terrible. Molina is old and getting older. Not to mention, he's not really above average at anything. He'd only be a moderate upgrade over Ross.

We can't even trade Mesoraco until late June anyway, as you can't trade draft choices until 1 year after they are signed.
I'd do something like Freel and Maloney for Molina, who's best years are probably past him.

Bengi Molina had one great post-season with the Angels and he's been living off of that since. He got a reputation as a great game caller but I'm not so sure that wasn't because his manager (Mike Socia) was calling most of the pitches.
Didn't seem to be a difference maker in Toronto and sure hasn't been one in San Francisco. Why pay premium for a catcher who isn't a difference maker like Pudge or Posada.

At this point, Mesoraco could conceivably be dealt as a Player To Be Named Later (PTBNL), as, if memory serves, those types of deals have to be completed within 6 months.
