The Reds have had four pitchers in their history who had won the Cy Young Award prior to pitching for the Reds in a regular season game. One was Tom Seaver.
Can you name the other three?
One guess per day please.

Yes indeed. The Twin's 1988 AL Cy Young Award winner had three pretty awful starts in August and September of 1995 in the twilight of his career. He did not make any postseason appearance.

John Denny. The Reds only bring in Cy Young types when they are near done.

Two for two, Schellis!
I thought the Reds had made a brillinat move when they got Denny for Gary Redus & Tom Huume! Hah!
Your maxim is true about the third Red on the list as well.

Doesn't look like anyone else wants to play. I had to look up the last one, the others I just needed to look at the Cy Young award list to pick off. I didn't think that he played for any team other then the Dodgers, but that isn't true.
Don Newcombe. To be fair he did have at least one year that was in line with his career marks with the Reds, so wasn't completely done, and did have a stop with I think the Cubs after that.

Yes, Don Newcombe, the original CYA award is the last one on the list.
Good for you, schellis!

Lets not forget that the Reds traded for Christy Matthewson after he was washed up. He deserves mention because he would have probably won 4 or 5 CYA's if the award had been around back then.

He was also a Red prior to being great too. I think both of those trades weren't completely on the up and up.
