Read a post on John Fay's blog and he said that the Reds are bringing Mario Soto north with the team to continue to work with Cueto and Volquez. Brilliant move on their part, as with Soto and Cordero there to help mentor the young flame throwers they are being put in a good situation to succeed.

I don't understand why this hasn't happened before. Soto obviously likes to be involved and lord knows we need someone in the Reds organization working full-time on teaching a decent change-up.
Makes one wonder what the heck Bowden and O'Brien were doing for 12 years.

Yeah if you can have Soto come with you why not? That sounds like a great idea and will really help the youngins learn during the season. I'm really glad they are doing this, showing they are actually paying attention.
This is why I love Big Bob and Wayne, they want to win and understand its the little things that make the biggest difference.

Is he a roving instructor?

Am I right in the assumption that Cueto and Volquez's first language is spanish? If so it makes way to much sense to have a pitching coach that can speak the language and instruct them on a new skill as well.
Soto probably works better with those two then Poole

Soto needs to be given an actual position with this team, not just an instructor.
Hell, make him a pitching coach. What has Pole done for us?

What has Pole done for us?Besides the countless obvious jokes because of his name, pretty much a big bag of nothing. I'd be all for making Soto the pitching coach. Unlike our current pitching coach, he'd have credibility with the players.

I am very glad to see Mario Soto come back with the team. I hope he can continue to work with Cueto and Volquez the most but maybe even work with some other guys also.
I wouldnt mind seeing Tom Browning try and work with David Bailey but from what I have read I dont even know if he would be accepting a great like Tom's help.
