Tony Mullane leads the Reds with 184 wild pitches.
Since 1900, nine Reds have more than 40 wild pitches in a Reds uniform. How many can you name?
Two guesses per day please.
Tony Mullane 184* 1) Jim Maloney 121 - curbinam Will White 94* Mike Smith 80* Billy Rhynes 55* Jesse Duryea 51* 2T) Scott Williamson 51 - vtreds22 2T) Aaron Harang 51 - bobroberts 4) Jack Billingham 46 - vtreds22 Lee Viau 46* 5T) Bucky Walters 45 - schellis 5T) Rube Benton 45 5T) Fred Norman 45 Ice Box Chamberlain 42* 8) Bob Ewing 42 9) Jim O'Toole 41 Bill Mountjoy 41*

Elmer Dessens and Jared Fernandez Dessens (our former staff ace -- ah the, JB years) sent 11 to the backstop. Fernandez 4. Of course that was in just 19 games for the knuckler.

Derringer was quite a control artist really. He only walked 491 in his 2,615 1/3 innings for the Reds. In his ten season with the Reds he only uncorked 27 wild ones -- Clay Kirby had as many in his two seasons with the Reds! Hard-throwing Soto just missed the list with 37 wild pitches.

Spot on with Maloney who uncorked 121 wild ones for the Reds (plus 3 for the Angels) in his major league career. That makes him #2 on the Reds all-time list, after Mullane and before Will White. Rijo only had 17 in his sojourn with the Reds. The same as Nick Massett, Tom Hume, and Billy Serad.

Bucky Walters and Dolph Luque Walters indeed makes the list with 45 wild ones. Luque just missed out with 39 -- along with some other familar Reds names.

Two guys with many years in the uniform but not enough WPs. Vander Meer had 34, while Gullett uncorked 31.

Scott Williamson Scott Sullivan Bob Purkey Only two guesse a day, so I'll ignore Purkey. Williamson had 51 wild ones in his days with the Reds - which shouldn't be a suprise to any of us who remember watching him pitch Sullivan had 32 wild pitches.

Aaron Harang lead the league in wild pitches one year, so I'd be surprised if he didn't get over 40 in a Reds uniform.
I really don't have a clue who else could be on the list. Pete Harnish was pretty wild, but I don't know if he played enough years with the Reds to get to 40...

In addition to leading the league with 12 wild pitches in 2007, Harang had 51 wild ones for the Reds. Harnisch had 19 (of his lifetime 50) wild pitches in his four season in Cincinnati.
