Okay, it's been a bit since we've had a trivia question, so here is a particularly trivial one.
Six pitchers have gotten into double digits in career balks for the Reds. How many can you name?
Limit two guesses per day.
HINT: All have pitched in the past fifty years.
1) Jose Rijo 21 (bobroberts) 2) Mario Soto 20 (quantumfootball) 3) Paul Moskau 14 (schellis) 4) Tom Browning 13 (schellis) 5) Jim O'Toole 11 (psuhistory) 6) Gary Nolan 10 (schellis)

I know that he hasn't pitched that many innings, but he's had multiple balks in an inning, so I'm going for Aroldis Chapman as a wild guess. For someone more likely to have done it, I'll guess Mario Soto.

Jose Rijo is a pretty safe bet to be on the list, and for my second guess I'm going with Nick Masset. He probably hasn't pitched enough years to accumulate double digit balks YET, but he did have something like 5 in 70 innings last year alone.

I'll throw in Tom Browning and Danny Graves

Rijo is very safe to be on the list, since he leads it with 21 over his Reds tenure and 28 during his entire career. Masset is on his way, but with the four he gave up this year, his career total is now five; the fifth was with the Pale Hose.

I'll throw in Tom Browning and Danny Graves Browning balked 13 times for the Reds, "good" for #4 on the list. Graves only gave up two balks for the Reds.

BTW, if I've added right, Soto & Rijo accounts for more than 10% of all the balks ever yielded by Reds pitchers.
Of course, the balk has only been around since 1917 if I recall.

I guessed I mixed up wild pitches and balks for Chapman for some reason. Anyway, my next two guesses are Harang and Danny Jackson.

Gullett managed only six balks for the Reds, while Arroyo has been almost balk free -- he had one in 2010. Arroyo did have two with the Pirates and one with the Red Sox.

I guessed I mixed up wild pitches and balks for Chapman for some reason. Anyway, my next two guesses are Harang and Danny Jackson. Not exactly a memorable stat is it? Harang has also had a largely balk-free career with two for the Reds (2006 & 2007) and one for the A's. Jackson did give up a lot of balks in his career, but only five where with the Reds, five more with the Royals, and two more for the Cubs.

Gary Nolan and Paul Moskau Great job, schellis. I thought people would have forgotten Paul Moskau and his 14 balks in just 148 games for the Reds -- he added a fifteenth pitching for the Pirates. Gary Nolan just cracked the double digits with 10 balks.

Who else pitched for them for a long time? Jim Maloney? Joe Nuxhall?
