Valaika goes 5 for 5 tonight raising his average to .291 in AA. He has raised his average 70 points over the past 12 days

Damn it, Ravin rolled out a 5/5 K/BB ratio. He needs to get the walk rate under control.

Great night for Danny Dorn!!!!
He went 4-6 with 2 homeruns, 3 runs, and 2 RBI. After a very slow start, Dorn is up .278 on the season. He also has a .370 OBP and a .468 SLG.
I still have high hopes for Mr. Dorn, but his lack of top notch power and defense that relegates him to left means that his OBP will be what drives his career.

Dorn can also play 1B and has a decent amount throughout his minor league career, so he might make a decent backup OF and RH first baseman to counterbalance the lefties of Votto and then Alonso.
Valaika ended up 5 for 6 and is hitting .288. I'd love to see him turn it on and finish this year with a few games in AAA and then get a callup sometime in May/June next year or if everyone is healthy a cup of coffee in september.

Actually, Dorn hits from the left-side. I still like him as a starter in left, but he'll need to keep posting the high OBP numbers to have a chance. My favorite Dorn picture: You can see the great balance in his swing.
