When we make our selection we can use this thread to talk about it to leave the other thread for general draft discussion.

Let's hope we're right. He supposedly has a great approach at the plate and a good stroke to all fields. Still, I've heard he's a defensively liability and we already have Votto at 1b.
I know best player available is the mantra, but what are we going to do with Yonder?

He is a great hitter, but if he is asking for that much, do we really want him? Here is an interesting question I will ask outloud. If we don't sign him, we get a 7th pick for next year? If next year's class is better... is that a bad thing? Just something to ponder...

I dont really like it, would have rather had Gordan Beckham but oh well maybe I will change my mind down the road I would've preferred a player at premier defensive position. I'm tired of poor defensive, corner players.

If we don't sign Alonso... do we get the 7th pick in next year's draft?

If we don't sign Alonso... do we get the 7th pick in next year's draft? 8th pick, as we would technically get 7a, the pick after 7.

In a deeper draft I may rather have 7a and our other 1st round pick...

Alonso was born in Cuba moved to the states at age 9....Scouts say his running is above average and he has light feet so I could see a move to LF. I still keep him at 1st and if he hits we could always move Votto to LF or trade him. This guy has a .579 OBP this year !

During the interview they were showing highlights of him, and I noticed him running to first trying to outrun a ball he hit to the left side. He is SLOW haha.

Does he stop in Dayton or move straight to Sarasota? If his bat is advanced as they say, put him on the same track as Frazier.
