When, and if, the Reds leave Sarasota in favor of Goodyear, Arizona for spring training, what happens to their high-A team? Do they just need to find a new city/ballpark with which to affiliate their team?
What considerations would be at work? Obviously, they couldn't just pick any city, any where as it might not make for convenient travel for the opposition. In addition, I wonder how many cities have ballparks or interest to support a minor league team. I have to wonder what other considerations might be at work.
I certainly hope that they don't forfeit their high-A team, as it's important for player development.

Look for the Reds to leave and go back to the Carolina league. They had there high A team in Potomac before they moved to sarasota. I think the nationals might have moved there but I could see another city taking us as teams are always moving. We could also stay in the FSL opr how about a mvoe to the california leauge ?
No way we do away with a High A team.

I had always assumed that there was some sort of leauge in the southwest they would join, but I didn't look into it at all. They'll definitely end up somewhere though. Maybe they should promote the Dayton site to High A and find a new Low A park.

I think they would enter a team in the California league like Star said. There is one team based in Arizona currently that plays in that league.
Being an easterner, I'd much rather see them keep the high A team in the Carolina league or FSL because its easier to follow prospects. But, the economics of having the high A team get access to the same infrastructure as the big league team's spring training site throughout the year would have to be hard to overlook.
