Now that Bailey has been recalled I thought I would bring this up ? How important are minor league stats really ? IN Bailey's case he has struggled as of late and it got me wondering.........is it really that important at all ? I mean Bailey is working on some things.....Maybe he is throwing his offspeed stuff more often and that has caused his poor numbers but in the long run it will help him because he is practicing these pitches in AAA in hopes they improve once he gets to the show. I mean Bailey has enough fastball to dominate AAA so I think that might be the case. He is also working on a slider and a smaller stride to home.
So I would say I am more worried about his stuff then his stats in AAA. If he was working on things I am ok with him overthrowing say the curveballor slider and getting hit more in the minors because at least he is getting use to throwing those pitches.
Anyone else agree with this ?

Statistics are a reflection of performance, so I think they are very important. Even if Homer is down there working on a few things, I think it's safe to say that that those things aren't actually working, which isn't a bad sign.
Of course, there are examples of pitchers not being great in the minors, but coming up to pitch well in the Show. I'm going to jinx him and my fantasy team by saying it, but Jeremy Guthrie is an example.
Stats certainly don't tell the whole story, but they are an important measure of performance.

we agree then
I think they are important only to a certain point. I mean if Bailey is getting beat on his 3rd or 4th ptich I still ant him to throw in in AAA in hopes it improves. His numbers could be better if he does not throw that 4th pitch as much but still throw it !
