While it's great to have both in the system, I'm curious to know who most would rather have between Josh Ravin and Kyle Lotzkar. The pundits say Lotzkar, but I'm going on the record in support of Ravin. For me, Ravin has cleaner mechanics and a tick better stuff. Lotzkar's mechanics are erratic and he needs to bolster his arsenal if he's going to stay on track to become a starting pitcher. For me, I say it's Ravin. What say you?

Gotta go with Lotzkar, who was awesome in his 1st year. Ravin stunk in 2007, so I don't expect much outta him.

I am very high on both but right now Iam leaning towards Lotzkar but am very high on ravin who has a better arm.
Ravin's control can be figured out I think ashis delivery is picture perfect. its jut a matter of time. You cant teach a 98 mph fastball !

I'd go with Lotzkar, he has great upside, and from everything i've read and heard he is a tremendous worker. I'd like to see both pitch in Dayton this year so I can see with my own eyes who looks more impressive. Here is that You Tube video that sufaced a while back about Lotzkar's offseason workout routine. www.youtube.com/watch?v=F7DaPXGpp9c

I too have to go with Lotzkar who I think with his talent and workout ethic he could become a big time prospect and a very good number 3. Even if he just becomes a good number 4 our future rotation looks like->
Cueto Bailey Volquez Lotzkar Harang or Maloney
I put Harang as a 5 because he will be older by then and with pitching you never know how they will age. Even though Harang should age well because the way he pitchs and also because I belive if I remember correctly the A's had him working as a RP so his wear and tear wont be so bad.
** I cant remember if it was Harang working out the pen for the A's or Eric Hiljus **
Ravin will make the majors I think but might be a RP.

You have to remember as well that odds are good we add a quality SP arm at #7 in this years draft. The only positions players I would take at #7 if they are still available are Pedro Alvarez (3B) or Tim Beckham (SS)

Lotzkar. Simply because he is Canadian. Let me explain. Canadian's traditionaly develop slower because they havn't been playing as long or at as high of a level. I think that Ravin should be better then Lotzkar right now, so if they are the same I have to go with Lotzkar. He is just scratching the surface of his potential.

The great news for the Reds is we can have this type of argument over young kids. lets hope they both make it.......I still give the edge to Lotzkar right now BUT I think ravin if he does nto pan out as a starter could always develope into a closer with a 98 mph fastball!

Do you know anything about his secondary pitches? He needs at least one above average one to be a good closer/reliever, and at least two more to be a good starter. Ravin that is.

From what I got listening to him on Billings radio is he has he makings of a plus curveball and a solid changeup but he missed alot with the fastball. It could be he needs to lay off a little try and throw 94 not 98 and get control of it. Ravin has all the ptiches to start but only time will tell if he is moved into relief. I think the Reds want him to stay in the rotation for sure.
