web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?sid=milb&t=g_box&gid=2008_04_28_sarafa_dunafa_1How much longer can the Reds keep Valika, Stubbs and Turner in high A (Sarasota) ? They are hitting a ton in a league that is not known for hitting. Its a tough place to hit the ball in this league but they are dominating. Now a move of all three would also mean the Reds would need to move guys from AA to AAA.....what can be done ? Cumberland might be ready for AAA but the question is where does he play in AAA, griffen could handle the jump as well but the same thing goes for him.

Bump the guys up that need to be bumped regardless of who's in their way. If these guys are the real deal, they shouldn't be stuck behind organizational minor league scrubs any longer than it takes for them to get acclimated to a new league.
There is no reason for Valaika, Frazier, Waring, Francisco, Stubbs.....to be hitting the cover off the ball, but blocked by those in AA and AAA.

Valaika is 4-4. He really needs to move up.

Valaika now 5 for 5, he is hitting .389 now.
Stubbs is 3-5 with his 1st HR on the year. He is hitting .348 with an OBP over .415 to go with his 13 SB
Turner only 1 for 5, but he is still hitting .384

I'm anxious to see these guys move up but there is always more to the story than the stat lines. Sometimes, they're facing struggling pitchers and their stats get a big boost. Sometimes, it's just a hot streak. I feel really good about a Valaika promotion (with Frazier taking his spot). I think Turner is going to hit respectfully up the ladder so I would also be ok with him. I think I'd test Stubbs a while longer and also Cumberland who's blazing hot but it's relatively early. Dickerson's days are numbered so there might be opportunity if he keeps it up. Besides those mentioned, Montano is the other who needs to move up and be tested.

Amazing performance by Louisville relievers going 9 shutout innings with 6 hits and no walks (Majewski, Herrera, Adkins, Brower). Barker blew the game at the end but you cant blame a 1st baseman for how well he pitches. ;-)
Charlie Manning sighting with Columbus, he was a Yank, then a Red, then a Yank again. Boone for Claussen/him. Then Manning for Gabe White (yuck) which never made any sense but oh Manning's only got an outside chance of visiting the bigs this year.
