Gonzalaz shows up in Sarasota and throws 5 shutout innings in first start of the year
5 innings 3 hits 1 bb 0 k's 0 runs
I guess he was hurt is why he was a no show. Lets hope he can develope. His control is better but the K rate needs to improve. For a guy with a great fastball he needs to get more K's Solid first start though !
Stubbs is 1 for 2 with his 3rd triple already

Stubbs finishes 2 for 5 with 1 2B, 1 3B, 2 runs, 1 rbi, and he stole 3rd for the 7th time this year and is 12 for 12 in SB.
Juan Francisco went 0 for 5, he is in a HUGE slump and is now hitting .280
Valaika 2 for 5, now hitting .361
Turner 2 for 5, now hitting .408

Any power Stubbs may ever provide would be all gravy for me. All I want is the good avg, high OBP, lots of efficient SB's, and a GG CF.

Is Gonzalaz still throwing in the mid to high 90's? Looks like he threw strikes. He should be further along with his stuff. Anybody know what was wrong with him? At least he is back. He has a lot of promise from what I have heard. Needed help with command and off speed pitches.

I know Gonzo had some lingering arm trouble which is why he started off in EST and he jsut had his first start. He has plus stuff, but the question is if his head will ever match his stuff. I think Star listened to his start.

I guess he can find a solution for world wide hunger and global warming while were at it, This was mostly to express my point that I want Stubbs to be the ideal leadoff hitter, and for once have a guy not worry about power. The big upside is that Stubbs is capable of all that.
