Damn, that seems steep!!! Curious the amount that was loaned originally. Could end up paying back over 20 million when it’s all said and done

That seems like a loan shark if I ever seen one. I can live with 10%, up to a certain dollar value. At some point, that return value needs to cut off. If Cruz becomes a 10 year 450 million dollar player, $45 million dollars was too much to pay back. Hypothetically, let's say they loaned him 200,000, which I think is high as hell still. He was given $65,000 signing bonus, and the team still pays him a weekly wage while in the minors, may not be awesome pay, but it should pay enough to live during the season at the very least. So you add the bonus and that high of a loan, you shouldn't have to pay back more than double your freaking loan. I get that it is a risk for the other company as well as you don't know if the guy will pan out, but you shouldn't rape one player to make up for all your other bad investments. They are not even his agent, and agents don't get that damn much of a percentage.

Tough gig. Don't know enough about the situation to make a judgment call, but that company is about to get paid.
Kind of reminds me of Scotty Pippen signing for so much less than he ended up being worth...
Even hearkens back to selling the birthright for a bowl on chili.
