Time to call up some kids. Strand hit 3 home runs tonight, hitting over .450 McLain hit for the cycle in his first 4 at bats Abbott is unhittable and he is striking so many guys out he got me twice in his last start. Lively is an upgrade on Cessa,

Anyone who is called up will take the place of someone else. The Reds should kick Nueman loose. He really is not helping the team. Fraley has had some big hits, but he needs to go also. The Reds need to can the three catcher experiment All it is doing is messing with Stephenson's mind. Besides id the Reds need a third catcher it should be Robinson who is doing very well at Louisville. Ultimately The Reds could try to move Senzel to make room for De la Cruz. I don't think they would do that, but the Reds could really use another starter, and help in the pen. Signing Myers for two years was not real smart. I would like to see the Reds dump him and then see what TJ Hopkins can do at the MLB level. David bell should be fired at the end of this year. He cannot manage a bull pen.

David Bell may or may not be a good manager. Hard to tell as he has not had a complete roster yet that was full of legit major league players. Each year he has had to manage with several AAA players on the active roster. You said Bell can't manage a bullpen. As of today May 13 the Reds are 2nd to the Cubs in the NL in bullpen ERA. so I'd say he is doing something right.

There are very few managers that actually make a difference on the field. For the most part all they really are is someone to take heat from press and balance the egos of the team.
The "best" managers are those that put their players in the positions that they are most likely to succeed.
It is also very difficult to be a good manager when the teams you have are loaded with players playing out of position, past their prime, or quad A types....sometimes all of the above.
Put David Bell on say the Astros and bring Baker back to the Reds and Bell suddenly will suddenly be solid.
Also most managers now are paint by numbers type where the front office/computer tell them who to play and when to pull them. In terms of actual game management Bell could possibly have very little to do with it.
