LOL the fact that I haven't posted in days is because I have a life you crusty old dork. You take criticism well. The Greene haters deserve to be called out. You probably call Lance's show and bitch about his contract. What a "cat synonym" you are. They guy who for years has been sitting in his rocking chair waiting for the bullpen to blow a game or for Hunter to get beat up so he can post on here tells me to get a life. That is gold. I think your mom's calling you. Better go see what she wants. Don't let her catch you wrapped in your rainbow flag, though, chief. My mom is calling me? I guess that would have been a first degree burn 25 years ago.

If anyone is still wondering why Hunter Greene is an absolute bargain with the contract extension just look at the 3rd inning of today’s game. He might get his brains beat out in the fourth, but that 3rd inning is why I believe when it’s all said and done he will be the best pitcher to ever pitch for the Reds. Yes, I'm afraid that I'm still wondering. Love that Hunter had a great start against the Twins. Unbelievable performance under pressure in a must win game. Also love his last few starts. Looking great, and if this continues and he stays healthy, I think the Reds will have saved roughly $36 million over the course of the deal. That being said, his ERA for the season sits at 4.24, over just 104 innings pitched. By comparison, Williamson has a 4.56 ERA over 106 innings pitched. Greene needs to stay healthy (which hasn't happened yet) and lower his ERA for this to be an absolute bargain. Don't get me wrong, I'm optimistic and hopeful about Greene. He has been great lately, and I'm really looking forward to see more of these types of performances from him on a consistent basis.

He will be the best pitcher to ever play for the Reds unless you start throwing Seaver a or Mathewson in the mix. I believe in 2 years he will be a cy young candidate. I also believe before his contract is up they will extend him again. Of course it all depends on his Arm health, but that could be said about anyone. I said the same thing years ago when Pedro was an Expo and I said the same thing about Mark Prior. 1 out of 2 and hopefully 2 out of 3.
They had a stat on the broadcast the other day that Jim Maloney has the all time reds record of 6 games of at least 6 innings and 1 hit or less. He did it 6 times over an 8-10 year career not sure how long without looking it up. Hunter Greene has 5 already in a year and 3/4. That tells me when Hunter has his A” game he is unhittable. The reds had to gamble on him. He has a once or twice a generation arm. If he doesn’t get hurt again by year 6 on the open Market he would cost 300 million at least. Now the reds have 2 extra years and that means 2 extra years of info whether his injury history justifies 200-300 million or trade bait. I believe he will be a Red for the next 8-10 years. He will be this teams Votto contractually speaking.
I misspelled contractually so bad my autocorrect was stumped for a minute.

I calculate that if Hunter becomes what we hope, there will be a $36 million upside for the Reds, not $25 million. The bulk of that value, as you point out, comes in the final two years of the deal. As I mentioned in a separate thread, if he pitches like Max Fried through his arbitration years, that's about $13 million in value for the Reds, which is good, but there is performance and injury risk that must be overcome to get that value. Keep in mind that even if he performs amazingly over the next few years and stays healthy, we could have been paying him arbitration money, and the payroll savings is not as high as one might expect: $13 million. It all comes down to those final two years, when the Reds are paying him $37 million over those two seasons. If he's as good as hoped, the Reds either wouldn't have him on the team (lost to free agency) or they'd be paying him much more ($60 million? $70 million?). That's where the value is. But we may be wondering until then just how great of a deal this is. As mentioned in another thread, I do like one of the clear non-financial benefits of the deal in that it time aligns Hunter Greene's presence in the lineup with EDLC, McLain, CES, and other young players. They will all potentially be together six consecutive years rather than Hunter moving into free agency before then.

Farmer and Gerbil have absolutely lost it. 2 more roster spots available for next year. That'll do it for this season. Time to go fishing and hunting, boys.

It seems that Bell thinks that Benson thrives at the bottom of the order, and he doesn't want to disrupt this. I get it. But don't you at some point, with the season hanging in the balance, have to consider getting India out of the leadoff spot and moving Benson up to #1 or #2? India is batting .118 in September with a 55 sOPS+. Benson is batting .310 with a 175 sOPS+. What am I missing?
Is batting Benson between EDLC (35 sOPS+) and Maile (19 sOPS+) really the best way to get the most value out of Benson's ABs?
You also have to move Marte ahead of Votto, don't you?

Is this a feel good game or what?! Reds v Pirates 9-0 top of 4th It would feel better if the cubs and fish lost. They didn’t. It would feel better if the pen didn’t blow the last 2 games. They did. It would feel better if Scarlet Johansson was sitting on my lap. Annnnnnd she is. Screw you guys I’m going home.

Lol they are going to blow a 9-0 lead. Hand the bullpen a 9-1 lead and they can’t hold the lead.

Are you really that surprised? Look at this way if they had made the playoffs they would have been smoked even worse than the pirates are shellacking them right now. I would say they choked except for the fact no one ever suspected they would have made it this far when the season began.
